I love this thread! I always wondered what some of these names stood for.
I picked California Dreamer because at the time it really was a dream to even imagine being able to retire early, and move 3,000 miles away, not knowing anyone at TV. my head is generally in the clouds, and my hubby is the practical one!

Default Because I am from N'awlins...

I am a cajun that was born and raised in New Orleans (and my husband Bruce adopted my heritage). I also have a "spicy" and fun personality, I have been told (maybe too loud sometimes, though !!) and we have two of the cutest pugs in the world..so there be it !!! It made sense.

Our sailboat, a Freedom 36 was named Cloud Nine. it gave us many years of pleasure sailing the waters of Narragansett and Buzzards bay. Now our sailing days are over but I think it is great name to depict our new life in the Villages !

because ever since I was a child I felt the pull of the ocean, the sand, the screech of sea gulls and terns, the smells of sun tan lotion, creosote treated boardwalk planks and driftwood bonfires...whether the beach is full of bathers or empty clam shells, I can always reach my inner self when I am there - and find peace for a while.

I meant to tell you before, and don't want to pass up the opportunity to tell you now: I really, really loved your avatar for the beginning of January and the new year. Clean and simple, yet so clever...not to mention that the timing for taking the photo had almost no wiggle room for error. The avatar was just super!

I lost my mother at birth and my grandmother became my treasured mom and she called me "graciegirl" and so I called myself that on this forum because it brings back the best memories.

Living here often feels like those wonderful years when I was a kid.

thank you gmcneill! a photographer friend of mine goes to the beach and writes msgs in the sand for folks and takes a picture of the msg so the requestor can have the photo to send to someone. and she makes some of her photos avail without copyright - that was one of them. I took it and reduced it to avatar size - she and I are both clever!
