I agree with you 1000%. It's horrible. So after 25-30 years with them I called it quits. For one the customer dis-service and two my internet bill went up to $90 a month (from $55) in Jan. I have T-Mobile for our cell phone and they offered a wireless device for $35 a month (with a price lock forever). We installed the command center several weeks ago and it works perfectly. I like the fact that it's wireless (no cable connection) so it can be located anywhere in the house whereas the Xfinity modem is locked to the cable location. Also if we lose power cable generally goes down as well. I have a whole house generator and once that's on I will also have the internet.

We only take the internet, although I think there are NOW TV and NOW PHONE as well. Not sure if bundling would give you a discount, but the $30 price will give you stand-alone internet, with nothing else to pay. I would recommend going to the store to discuss. We are traveling in four weeks so have already cancelled autopay. We immediately received confirmation that our internet will stop at the end of the current billing cycle (one month) and to restart it we just need to turn autopay back on. |

xfinity “now” is just a 5G hotspot correct?
That is available from every mobile phone provider. For that matter if you are cheap you can just use your phone as a hotspot. So what is the advantage of xfinity? If people hate them why chose them for a 5G hotspot? Just curious. Personally I like xfinity. If fiber is not available I find their support and service to be good. Not sure all mobile providers have 5G home internet offerings. Your mobile hotspot is often limited in speed or data. It will certainly work in a pinch but you probably will not get 900GB of high-speed data. The number one issue with Xfinity is the price, number two is service, and number three is the difficulty in canceling. Xfinity NOW is a $30 service that is easily canceled.

Both Facetime and Skype use about 1mbs bandwidth down...Not even a blip with 100mbps Internet.

I have mentioned on an earlier thread that our experience with Now was a nightmare. You are given a router and sent home. Now is new to them and most don’t know what it really is so they are lost trying to help you, other than it isn’t them. If you want someone to plug it in it is the standard $100 or whatever set up fee. First everything is done through an app, you don’t talk to people, you chat on the app with people who people who are very sorry for your problem but probably cannot help you. So when installation, or your TV acts up, or your pool router or any of the other things that use that service go crazy you will spend hours, like multiple digits of hours trying to get something fixed. Hours in their store, hours on chat and hours just not saying nice words about people, or perhaps your dog, out of frustration.
Comcast is going away from any sort of person to person phone support with Xfinity as well if you try to get help you will learn this quickly when the recording says “sorry, cannot help, goodbye”. That one is my favorite. They never could quite figured out what the problem was and we are back on Xfinity after a heated discussion with Loyalty after decades of using them. 12 months of this until we have to take a jump again into something to stay under $100+ a month for basic service. We also had to spend an hour, twice, having them realize that we only had one not 4 accounts. Again last month they billed for the cancelled Now account. Feel better now.
