fortunately I did not. Four days in the VILLAGES HOSPITAL was billed at 50,000. AETNA paid 20,000 and that settled the bill in full. You would not like to try to explain why AETNA pays 20,000 and if I had decided to self insure I would have had to pay 50,000.

OUR SYSTEM IS SIMPLY INSANE. What is the real cost of medical care. For my four days was it 20,000 or was it 50,000.

We discuss cost of medical care like we have access to REAL NUMBERS.

There are many books on the result of price control. The result is always the same. Fewer supplies, LESS QUALITY, and the creation of a black market.

Obama didn't and if TRUMP does there will be an outcry-limit the costs of medical lawsuits. I also think there should be a significant copay. That would cut costs for medicare, cut the illusion that there is no cost involved. We might then need to SHOP for lower cost options as we do with everything we purchase-EXCEPT MEDICAL CARE.

AN ADVENTURE-ask your doctor for the cost. It is truly amusing. You will get a look like he/she/it thinks you are crazy.

Healthcare costs too much to pay for everyone. The ones who do pay, can't afford to carry those who don't or are subsidized.

The solution?

Every man for themselves, either regular insurance or self insure.

Or...the government takes over and we get "panels" or "formulas" that determine what and how much will be spent on each individual.

Can't have both...can't cover everyone AND give them no cap coverage.
