Arts per Capita – District of Columbia - $0.49 – Florida - $0.02. While the DOC did place second to Wyoming in the caragory, it still received over 2600% the monies allocated to FL for this stimulus. This despite the fact that as taxpayers we are already picking up the tab for the Smithsonian and the Kennedy Center. If you factor in just these two items, excluding such things as the capitol zoo, etc – The DOC continues to be the most highly stimulated economy in the nation.

Qman --- Excellent post. Thanx for the facts. I do have one minor nit to pick. If the zoo to which you refer is the big one on the hill on Connecticut Ave, it is part of the Smithsonian and, I assume, funded through that organization. If, on the other hand, you were referring to the zoo in the big white building on the hill on Constitution Ave, that one is totally independent, is funded separately and evidently with unlimited funds, and answers to no one.
