It was such a strange season with Rivera going down for the season, Petitte breaking his ankle, and Derek breaking his ankle. A-Rod had another disappointing post season (except for 2009, all his post seasons have been disappointing), but he wasn't the reason we lost. No one hit! It is time to make this team over. We have to get younger and we probably have to get faster. It won't be easy to do with A-Rods huge contract and no trade clause, but I hope Cashman can figure something out. But, congratulations to Detroit. They were the better team and I wish them good luck in the World Series.

Just great pitching by Detroit. Not so sure about the Yankees in a hitting slump, more of great pitching will win for you.

Well, I agree and disagree.
Give credit to the Detroit pitching staff - absolutely. But, the Yankee hitters have also been just plain LOUSY! Not saying Detroit wouldn't have won, but we didn't even put up a fight.

Yankee pitching, for the most part, was not that bad either.

The Yanks bats were streaky all year. They picked a hell of a time to go into another teamwide slump.

Very disappointed in that it's happened before in the playoffs. They couldn't buy a hit when needed. Team wide slump at the worst time.

Hats off to the TIgers.

Detroit pitching dominated. ERA of 0.7 for the starters and if one pitch wonder Valverde hadn't surrendered 4 runs in game 1........... WOW !!!! It would have been even worse for the Yankees. The yankees will be back again next year with a payroll approaching $400 million I expect.

The problem the Yankees have for next year is age. Jeter will be 39 and now he has a bad ankle. Bones don't set that well once osteoporosis begins to set in.
A-Rod is going to be 38.
Andy Petite 40
Mariano Rivera will be 83 years old and is probably done.
Raul Ibanez 41 and Ichiro will be 40 in Japanese years.

That's an awfully big chunk of your primary players around 40 years old and higher.

Pettitte is back and so is Mo.

Who else may go and who may come? That is the question.

Not resigning Martin will hurt. He was gutsy and a good defensive cathcher. Although he hit for a low average I felt he hit in hard luck. Maybe let Cervelli have another shot and give Romine some playing time. No need to go out and get another older player. If they want to go old, maybe Yogi can suit up again but I'm not sure if his knees could take the abuse anymore.

Tom:

I ddin't see if Martin has signed a contract with anyone yet but the Yankees have signed Mo to a one year contract.

It was just announced. Martin signed a two year contract with the Pirates.

Cervelli isn't a major league caliber starter. He's all show and no arm and no bat. We need to get someone. Stewart is the best of the lot and they say he's not a starter either.
