Default Driveway finishing

After living in The Villages for seven months in a temporary house, we will close on our "permanent" home on April 1. Our preowned home looks like it has everything we need except for the driveway. It's the original concrete. Could someone recommend someone to finish it for us and give us a ballpark figure of what the cost will be? Thanks.

It really depends on how you want it finished. Painted with a design or paver's. Painted can run from $300 up to $1200 depending on finish type and designs, and paver's go by the square foot and can be as low as $2 to over $4 a square foot and the average driveway is probably between 450 and 600 square feet. And there is cleaning and sealing and epoxy paint on the garage floor and then match the lanai, then add the kurbit to match and on and on. You can pretty much spend what ever money you have available.

Be very careful who you select to do the job. Driveway Pavers/Decorators are basically an unregulated industry in this state - no contractors license required. Unfortunately, the industry is rife with shoddy and disreputable businesses because it is so easy to get into the business. There are also excellent businesses around who offer the service. Check out your "contractor" (I use that term loosely as they are not required to be licensed contractors) carefully through the BBB and Seniors Vs Crime. Make sure you get references and check out the references. Carefully ensure that the selected contractor has liability insurance for his/her workers. Your best reference will be comments from others who have used his/her services. You can post here and ask if anyone has any experience with "XYZ Driveway Pavers" once you decide on one or two "finalists" for your driveway job.

Default We going with Stain...

Out 3rd year here and we are about to get our driveway and front walk stained by COST-LESS Driveway. Looking at his calculations it is $1.10/sq ft.

Our driveway is for a two car garage, no golf cart garage . The sq ft for driveway is 632 and walk/entrance is 113.

Well, Cost Less did a nice job for us. We had them do the driveway, walk and lanai.

If that don't inspire you to stay with you plane ole concrete driveway, nothing will. But, you can't be too safe.

I used Old World Pavers to cover my drive/walkway with decorative pavers and enclose our lanai with acylic windows and have been very pleased with the price and their professionalism.

We did the driveway, garage floor(2 car), walkway and lanai, std size lot, 1,500 sq ft house for around $1600, it was done 4 years ago and still looks like it did the day it was done. Can't recommend our guy because he's no longer in the business. Maybe some of the other responders will chime in with what they paid as this was part of your question...gn

Good luck on your looking for a good contractor. I had mine painted and am quite happy with the results. However, I hose down and scrub mine frequently. You will never believe how many inconsiderate roamers use your painted driveway to turn around. They drive almost up to the garage and then back out. Of course, most of them have recently driven through some oil or grit. Catch them doing it and their response is to give you the fickle finger of fate. So, along with getting it painted, get yourself a big flower pot to place at the end of the driveway and maybe you will be lucky enough to reserve the use of your driveway to you and your family.

There are lots of recommendations I would like to make to you, my friend. However, you appear to be the type of person who does use painted driveways to turn around, so I will keep my recommendations to myself and let you plod along your merry way. I am not happy to think that you are a fellow BoSox fan.
