The Lake Sumter store offers higher quality furniture at a competitive price. People have shopped around and then returned to LSL.

95% of all of our furniture came from Southern Lifestyles in both LSL and 441. I love that store and if they would let me, I would live in that store. Our dining room set and bedroom set were waiting for us here from our move from Chicago. (Two day drive, all I had to do was fine the bedding and go to sleep.) They have a wonderful service dept. that has come out to fix a tiny scratch or two we might have found. What I love is that they have the layout of your house, so you can be positive when you purchase a piece, that it will fit the space you're going to put it.
I can't say enough about Southern Life. . . But then, if you read my posts you know I'm pretty much of a developer hugger. I don't care what they own or do, I think they do it with class and style. :#1:

In '05, before we put the house in the rental program, we bought a "package" from SL. They had the plans for the model, and even had little cutouts of furniture like colorforms to place in the rooms to see what fit. They had the list of required articles for the property management program , and let us know what we needed (# of counter stools, etc).The salesman at the time ( I think he manages now) told us of a service where he and his wife wife would shop for all the decorating stuff required to rent at TV. This included toaster, televisions, lamps, cutlery, salt shakers, pictures, plants, etc. It was the most painless experience I ever had in trying to furnish a house.
Oh, and they delivered the furniture and decorated the house while we weren't there, so our next trip down the house was completely decorated. They did a great job! The prices were very fair for everything we purchased. What I've noticed in the store is quite a few items that are pretty affordable, and others that seem off the chart expensive. But I'd not shop for furniture without checking them out. |

I am sure the SL furniture store is a very fine store. But if a person really didnt want to spend $3000 on a couch or 2000 for a chair. What would be the second choice of folks there? Is there anyone else that is able to deliver to TV and do decorating?

Numerous in Leesburg and Ocala. You could probably get some of the Orlando stores to deliver also. We've shopped them all. For price, service, and customer service SL wins hands down IMHO. If you don't want to spend $3000 for a couch, they can accomodate for $300; if you don't want to spend $2000 for a chair, they can accomodate for $200.
There are also resale and antique stores in the area if you prefer to do that. |

OK, Ladies, I need your help. What would you estimate it would cost to completely furnish a two-bedroom patio villa. I'm a single male and I think that's enough said as to what I'm looking for. ;D Just simple, functional, and economical.
My intent is to leave everything behind (except for memorabilia and clothes) when I relocate to The Villages. Love you guys. Gene |

Depends if you're buying new or used. If used, you could probably furnish the whole house for under $5K quite easily.

I did our 1900 sq ft designer, LR, DR, 2 BR, kitchen and some odds and ends, rugs, 2 new mattresses and box springs and two entertainment centers using craigslist. Cost for all furniture was $5600. This was all used but I think I got some really nice pieces. Now I did this at home in Virginia where on the weekends they add 100 new pieces an hour to craigslist. Cost me another $1000 to move it all there. Than sheets, towels, and others odds and ends were another $600 or so. I like the dining room set we bought better than the one I have in Virginia and that one was more than the entire house cost me here. Down side was the time it took to go look at several to find the right ones. Than get them home, store in garage until I had a full 17 foot U-Haul full to drive down. Took about 2 months from beginning to end. But it was worth while doing it this way.

Hi Everyone;
Another store to at least take a look at is Veranda Home Furnishing & Design in Wildwood. They do a lot of work in TV and their designers are pretty good. I've worked with them on my home and been very satisfied. 3 cents worth.
