I would call it more Chinese than anything else. They advertise as Asian Fusion. I guess that means all Asian types of dishes. However, we think it is quite good for both dine in and take out. Has the best hot and sour soup in The Villages!

I've heard that a local Chinese restaurant has taken one of the country's famous duck recipes and combined it with a Thanksgiving staple...to honor those in TV who look in empty houses for sale.

They call it...

...'A Peking Tom.'

Cheng's was good but no where comparable to Chinese places you would find in San Francisco or Los Angeles but this is the Villages after all. The portions were HUGE. This is in front of Walmart on CR466 as another poster, Chi-Town, pointed out.

Rented a house in Thailand 33 years ago form one of the sisters who owned and ran a Chinese restaurant. We frequented the restaurant multiple times a week, enjoyed the excellent food and became friends with all three sisters. After leaving Thailand we traveled to many areas of the world and across the United States and never found any as good as that. After moving to TV we tried Koyame and were blown away by food which tasted identical to the food we loved in Thailand. We eat in or carry out from Koyame 2-3 times a month and we live near Havana CC.

BTW They will make it hot and spicy for those who like it that way but you have to request it extra spicy or even extra, extra spicy.

I've always been puzzled by the name Koyame. Although it is Japanese, the food is mostly Chinese with a bit if Thai tossed in. I believe that the owners and all of the employees are Chinese as well.

They have the best Chinese food in The Villages. Some of their Thai dishes are OK but stay away from the Pad Thai.

Incidentally, Koyame translates to The Cabin. Still have trouble understanding a Chinese restaurant with a Japanese name.

I recommend Bamboo Bistro to anyone looking for good Asian food, and the feedback has always been highly positive. It's Asian fusion, which includes several different Asian cuisines, the restaurant is very nice, and their takeout food is good too. It's located near Target, across the strip mall from the former Jim's Golf (now Edwin Watts Golf).

Actually, your taste changes as you age.

As you read the posts here, it seems like life is tough in the villages. The INMATES just like to complain.

RE: PIZZA
Try a little salt on it and for me a bit of Oregano.

RE: CHINESE FOOD
Most of what we expect and get at a Chinese restaurant is American created chinese food Chow mein for example was created in CALIFORNIA. Fortune cookies in Brooklyn-if I recall.
