I don't know but have wondered the same when I passed it as I entered the WM. I highly doubt it ? ? But, could be wrong ! Speaking of, anyone tried "I BBQ" on OBT going south toward Leesburg ? Have heard "it's not a place you'd notice but it sure is good".

[QUOTE=Aloha;2382011]Yes, Dickey's Barbecue Pit smokes their meat on-site in hickory wood burning pits:
Dickey's smokes their meats low and slow for 12–14 hours a day in open kitchens where guests can watch the Certified Pit Masters. Dickey's smokes a variety of meats, including beef brisket, pulled pork, St. Louis style ribs, polish sausage, spicy cheddar sausage, smoked turkey, and marinated chicken. The flavor is authentic and not overbearing due to the 12-14 hours slow cooking over hickory wood. Good to know. I actually didn't see the open kitchens, are they located INSIDE or are they BEHIND the Walmart ? |

Not knocking Mission, we go there, but just like 4 Rivers, Mission is NOT what it was before it decided to become a franchise chain. Locally, Oak Wood has a few locations, but not a national chain, and there has to be a reason a "local joint" can survive for over 25 years. We're Fl natives and have gone to O.W. for at least that long, same quality today as then. BTW, not related to anyone associated with the place, but started going there years ago when still working in Tavares area; so good would drive to Leesburg for lunch. When we retired, we moved about 9 miles....lol... to build a home in The Villages, so still close to O.W..

Totally AGREE ! Yuck, chains, yuck. Have yet to find a place that goes full on chain franchise that IMPROVES ! 4 Rivers BBQ (once proclaimed among the nation's best, and we had it right here near Winter Park, Portillos another example of a place that is nothing like it once was before becoming a chain, not even the "famous" chocolate cake is the same !

Oh, and I should add, I’m from Texas. All this barbecue talk makes me think it’s time to break out the smoker.

We have not been to Artmans so cant comment on the food. We do like burnt ends though and would be interested in trying them there. However, I have looked up their menu online and burnt ends are not listed.

Same here, apparently they must do this BEHIND the store, but never saw where that could be either, I think that's why you see them take it from some kind of "warmer" thing wrapped up in a plastic coating.
