Please come down here. The people here are wonderful. This is the right decision. It really is. Most of the people on totv don't live here.

The real TV folks are out playing and having fun. Don't worry about a few hundred folks that hang on a computer all day.

I hope I will meet good people. I am really scared. Reading the posts about the dogs and rude drivers, really has me questioning my decisions. Another post that really upset me was when someone said that so many folks make up stories about their past and that folks aren't real. Why would people want to start a new life based on lies? Maybe I ahould just stay off of here for awhile.

When people complain about "the small stuff" that's not cancer, stroke recovery, diabetes nor death of one's son/daughter in Afghanistan, it means they don't have a whole lot to complain about.

In and around TV, it's not a bunch of complaining, entitled geezers like complaint threads here often appear. Plus as someone said above, most people don't sit for hours on a computer. They're out living their lives happily.

Hi Gerryann,
The posts on this thread didn't strike me the same way. To the OP, the practice of ordering free water at a restaurant and turning it into lemonade rather than ordering lemonade or another paid beverage seemed cheap. Some of us agreed and some did not. In light of your taking such offense, I went back and reread the posts, including my own, in which I offered my rationale for my opinion on the subject.

I pay for the tea and quietly use my own green tea bag.

No way would I ask for a free cup of hot water. Personally, I'd rather forgo the green tea than to use my own at a restaurant and not pay. To me, it seems wrong. You use the restaurant's cup and saucer and maybe kettle, all of which must be served, removed from the table, washed and put away. The water had to be heated. It is not "no cost" to the restaurant. Why should it be no cost to me?

Yes, I know. Restaurants serve ice water and don't charge. Well, that is their policy. It is built in to their profit margin. BYOB is not.
I do see your point. Other people who see the issue differently explained that they weren't trying to be cheap, but wanted something that wasn't on the menu and disagreed that they should have to pay for bringing their own in that case. Honest disagreement. My post sounds hauty. Mea culpa.

Joe, I think she's simply chosen to delete her post. That's about the only way you can do it - no function to simply wipe a post from a thread totally.

Gerryann, fear not! I promise you, the residents in The Villages are wonderful, and this is a very dog-friendly community.

I wanted to stay out of this one, but since my wife and I were discussing a similar issue a few days ago I just can't hold back. We've only been here six months, but in that short amount of time we have seen more people get water glasses and use them to get soft drinks at Sweet Tomatoes, Crispers and various other restaurants around TV than we have ever seen at any other restaurants in our entire lives. Personally (and this is just my opinion), I feel this is the epitome of cheapness. I also think it is stealing. It is a form of lying. If you order water, get water. If you want soft drinks, pay for them! People can rationalize this all they want, but to me, it is inexcusable behavior. Sorry if I come across as judgemental, but stealing is stealing and lying is lying.

I realize this is not the exact same scenerio presented by the OP, but it certainly has a lot to do with the relative cheapness/dishonesty of some TV residents.

I also realize that in the overall scope of things, this is not a big deal--compared with poverty, wars, incurable illnesses, the state of the world economy, etc., this is a rather trivial matter. On the other hand, I think this type of behavior is representitive of the decline in morals of our society. Not only is it unacceptable to steal and lie, it is equally bad to excuse such poor behavior.

Stepping down from my soapbox now.

Last year they had their burger special on for xx$$, ONLY IF you took it with their toppings on it. Telling them that they could just make it a plain burger for me and would have to charge me the regular price. They said they couldn't do that because leaving the lettuce tomato off, would slow down their production line in the kitchen.......there were 5 people in the restaurant at the time!!! And two of their receptionists could use lesson in manners too. WON'T BE BACK,!
I just had lunch at Glenview on Friday with
our ladies group. There was a glitch on the reservation (The restaurant's fault) but in the end they were able to accommodate us. However, the hostess was not the mostest! She was very rude! I won't be going back! There are too many other restaurants here too enjoy!

If you like a certain type of ham not on the menu, would you also bring your own ham sandwich?

Mostly, if you ask an honest question you'll get an honest answer. This is a great informational site just stay away from the controversial threads if you have a weak stomach!

Glenview doesn't take reservations...
When I tried to make one for a group of 12 last week, I was told, "if you get here before noon we should be able to accomodate, but we make no commitments. All tables are 'first come, first serve'".
We decided to take our chances, and were accomodated(small wait for table set-up). Food and service were excellent...
