I totally agree with you. This is like leaving your children in the car while you shop, eat, or whatever..If you really care about your pets and can't stay with them while you are out, leave them home..

We've had dogs and cats throughout our entire marriage of almost fifty years....especially while raising our bright intelligent charming children.

NOT ONCE did we feel the need to take the dogs or cats to a restaurant.

Our children were taken to restaurants from infancy on and learned good manners, how to order from a menu and how to eat politely. They have excelled in their adulthood (from childhood, teens, etc. on)....and to tell you the truth, we enjoy EVERYONE'S GRANDCHILDREN and CHILDREN.

They are all welcome in our home........all children, no matter what their age.

Our grandchildren are now a JOY to us........reward for having raised nice children........certainly NOT insipid twits.

Actually, I've never met one of those.
O/T, the topic is RedSauce, busybodies who can't mind their own business and perhaps scheduling a telethon for the unfortunate souls born without a palate.

I cannot believe that this person is allowed to post here.

Have you ever known a child born with a cleft palate?

Red Sauce needs to get a permit. Don't sit outside at Cody's if you don't like dogs in restaurants, 'cause they have a permit.
Yup and Cody's lets patrons dogs eat off the plates as was the case last Monday evening couple seated outside next to the pet a plate and bowl same as the ones on their table so you can say they brought their own. Perhaps that explains why no one was there we didn't stick around either.
I'm sure the health inspector would have loved to have seen that one.
In the long run you'll lose more patrons that you'll gain

(the manager may want to rethink this...they will lose alot of customers !!)
If you put yourself in the manager's seat whose livelihood is tied to the success or failure of his business and your choice was to allow dogs and all the potential health issues in addition to liability situations that can evolve with having pets in eating areas or not allow them at all, your only logical decision would be to ban the pets..I'm sure there are more people who prefer to dine without pets being near them than those who prefer to take them with them..Excuse the run on sentence above..

I certainly have enjoyed everyone's comments on this topic, the ones that truly are on topic--and I mean everyone's, even the ones I don't agree with. And here I thought this was going to be a ho-hum morning on TOTV...

Seems we have been down this trail before regarding dogs at restaurants. Red Sauce made a "business decision" regarding dogs and Cody's did too. Don't we live in a wonderful country where we have choices.

I get it that people want the convenience of riding around with Fluffy in the cart and stopping off for dinner with pooch underfoot. So what can we do to compromise with reality??
Get food you can take out and have a picnic. Fluffy will love it.

Totally agree with you Kitty!

We used to take our little puggie Chester out for golf cart rides all the time. Just the look on his face confirmed that he thought that the golf cart was the greatest invention that us crazy humans ever produced.

We used to head out to the polo grounds and park under a nice shady tree and have a picnic. Wine and cheese for us and some water and doggie treats for him. (OK, some bits of cheese for Chester too)

The elephant in the room is liability and lawsuits and I see no recognition of such problems shown in my earlier post from the Miami newspaper on the server having her lip torn by the dog while giving it a bowl of water, and her having 300 stitches and hours of surgery, pain and probably disfigurement and flashbacks.

If your dog or my dog bites a visitor or the A/C repairman in our homes, we are going to be hit with the liability of that person's claims and lawsuits, and our homeowner insurance will be hit and maybe cancelled. We know our own dogs' reliability for staying friendly to other people coming into our homes, but a restaurant owner, employees and patrons have no way of knowing which patrons are realistic about their dog's behavior and obedience, and which ones are not.

The liabilities of the bar serving drunks and having to cut them off before they leave and kill somebody DUI with the car/cart are already a huge thing to have to insure for, without a pet dog starting out as friendly but going berserk when a stranger makes a simple friendly gesture to him.....
