Default To all those who posted here during the campaign

I honestly and sincerely hope this thread is not misinterpeted !!!

During the campaign there were many on both sides who posted almost daily and more than one time a day in general.

Since the election, there are only a few who post and I am curious why that is !!!

I thought maybe it was that political was becoming a bash Obama area, but that cannot be it because that took place a lot during the campaign which did not deter anyone from posting and since the election folks just backed off posting even anything in defense.

I thought maybe folks just didnt care anymore, but I dont think (or hope at least) that is the case !!!

I thought maybe everyone was totally satisfied with what was happening and the light speed it is happening but hopefully IF that is the case, those who were on here always during the campaign would be here discussing the issues.

In any case, wanted to throw it out to those folks who were in here on an almost daily basis during the campaign.

I dont think watching our government or discussing issues of the day stop and end with a political campaign...if it does, the politicians WIN big time because then we only care about what happens shortly before the campaign and no other time which many have suggested !!

While it can be exasperating discussing politics without it we are at the mercy of the professional politicians !!!

I quit posting for the simple reason that it seems that most posts post-election are simply trying to be "I told you so" posts -- Obama IS a radical, he lied and is reneging on his campaign promises, etc. Sorry, but that is non-productive to me and not worth a response.

I think President Obama is in an exceedingly difficult situation -- one not of his making -- and I'm hoping he can find a solution to at least some of the crises America is facing today. I don't think every decision nor action he has made nor will make are to my liking. However, I think he is trying and is being as honest as he can (he is, after all, a politician).

So, I've found no reason to post. Those who like Obama will probably continue to keep quiet and give him the chance we feel he deserves. Those who feared him previously will continue to find the facts to prove their fears were justified. Not much can be said either way to appease either side. It was that way pre-election, it is that way post.

Politics got us into this. But politics will not get us out. The games must stop. The finger-pointing and finger-giving must end. We are a weary nation.

Pretty well stated Red. There is no give and take on this board with regard to the President. There will never be recognition of what he does right by the faithful few on here that diligently hammer him daily. There doesnt appear to be a true exchange of ideas, a willingness to attempt to be objective by them. That certainly does not categorize everyone on this board by any means, but my humble opinion is that a lot of people don't feel it's worth the effort because the responses are so predictible, and with no true objective assessment (he can't be wrong about everything anymore than previous presidents were) and objective exchange of information, what really is the point?
I could be wrong though.

Hey! I was being honest, too.

Oh well, that's what always happens to me when I enter this forum. I must be the sound of one hand clapping. And there have been times when I think I have been sent out into the hall for contributing incorrectly, not according to certain thought processes. (I just never could think inside the box.) So I have learned not to bother.

I think in shades of gray and that just does not work too well around here in political. Always moderate Republican woman me. Sold out by my party in this last go round. And they still don't get it. Or they do not care that I refuse to be spoken for by a buffoon with ratings. Why aren't they paying attention? Did anybody see the tent city in Sacramento with construction workers and car salespeople living in it? That one paycheck away thing has come home to roost and it has only just begun. This thing grows arms and legs and heads by the minute. And they still want to play politics. They want to delight in things not going well. They wish ill will -- to our country. Politics as usual. Fiddling while we burn.

Oh well, it is just as well that I do not fit in here. I will go back to books and libraries and soup recipes and econ and the market and real estate and health insurance and airplanes and Barbie and puns and maybe decorating and all that other stuff I find around here to talk about when I pass by this computer. Anywhere but here. Anywhere but here in political. What's the point?

BUT there is a lot more to American politics than the Presidency. This isn't a 4-year monarchy or dictatorship. At the fed level it is only one prong on the trident, and the real power is being shown daily in the most populace of the trident prongs - the Congress.

The 2010 elections are not that far away. All 425 members of the House are up for re-election, including the two Congressional districts that cut through TV. Sen. Martinez is retiring, and his seat is up-for-grabs.

Let's not forget that the Florida gubernatorial election also occurs in 2010. I venture that not many folk even know who are the State Reps and Senators in tis area, or what they vote on, or how long they've been in office, or anything else about them. The State stuff, especially with the general size of this state, and we're in the middle of it, is so very important to TV and our quality of life.

There's a lot on the table - now's not the time to "go on a political diet."

Having apologized in one post, I will use this one to say that we share a lot !

I, also a moderate looking for a leader....and you fit well here. Got to tell you, I enjoy the give and take (I try very hard to keep the personality stuff out of it) because I learn so much by reading other viewpoints or what they may have read. I find it very informative !

I agree Steve and why I began the thread.

I dont understand all the interest at election time and then NOTHING. I learn from here....I learn by reading others....I learn when folks disagree with me.

I do not understand how the passion of folks just leaves. Listen, I have said the same thing over and over DURING THE PRIMARY..nothing has changed. I dont mind folks disagreeing with me....I have a passion for this country and a passion for politics. I do not think because we are "retired", we should sit around, accept things, play golf and not get involved. Then WE become the problem !!!

Anyway I was curious if people just didnt care now that there is a "winner"

Hey Bucco,

It's OK. I just get a little fired up once in a while. This is all so wrong. And we are all in it together. And now I see them starting to eye our age group as if we have a price on our heads. But wait! We do! It is starting to feel like we are living in a science fiction novel. It is surreal, It is Orwellian.

But on the hopeful side, I did open a Scottrade account today. Boomer is a multi-faceted woman.

And, seriously, thanks, Bucco. That was nice of you.

Default Hi Bucco!

I miss the debates too...however I am in a new job and don't really have time to get into major political conversations. I still have many, many opinions but work and family life prohibits me from being on here as often as I used to be (to some peoples relief).

On another note I really do miss posting in political but it sucked me in so much !!! I was becoming much more negative and angry in regards to TOTV, TV's and life in general, so while I DO READ all of the postings...I don't always reply.

I hope you keep posting knowing that you are constantly entertaining and enlightening some of us!! Mind you I do not always agree...but still love to read it all anyway!!

That statement could have been written about President Bush, no?

6...I had exactly the same thought when I read that post...only Bush bashing was X 10. I guess it depends on whose ox gets gored.

For the last two posts, of course it could. The fact is the overwhelming number of posts on here are placed by a select few that have really nothing but negative to say about the present administration. Bucco asked for an opinion and he that is what I gave him, not an indictment of Bush or anyone else.
And by the way Bucco, do me the courtesy of not pigeon-holing me as a "supporter" of anyone by your definition or judgment. Thanks in advance.
