Default Golf Question

When playing golf at TV, do they always put you in a four some if you are only 2? Can you request to stay a two some? Even the Champ courses?

Thanks, Army Guy

I sure hope not. Why shouldn't everyone try to get as many people around as possible. You go out as a two some, that means two other folks don't get to play. You want to go out with only two, pay for 4. Besides a round with only two players is boring as you have to wait on almost every shot.

In the off season when play is lite, maybe OK, but during the busy season you are depriving others of a chance to play.

There have been occassions where my wife and I had a tee time which no one else requested and they sent us out as a two-some on both execs and championship courses. I agee with the above poster, however, if there is a chance to make a complete foursome, it is encouraged. However, if you are a twosome and nobody else around, they will send you out.

When you reserve a tee time there is always a chance that you will end up as a foursome. This time of the year if you are playing anytime before 4:00 I would say it is a 99% chance that you will be in a foursome. If you show up at 4:00 or so then the chances are good that you will be a twosome. The 4:00 tee times are by phone in the day of play or show up.

Last week my guest and I had a 1:00 tee time at Palmer and we had a four some for the first nine holes. The people that we were playing with were only playing 9. When we made the turn to Riley Grove we were the only two people on the golf course. We played that nine without seeing anyone ahead or behind us.

Don't let playing with people you don't know bother you. It is a great way to meet a lot if nice people. I have lived here for 3 years and only played with one jerk. I was lucky he was in the other cart. The guy I was riding with and I just laughed at him. Sure there are some people that you really enjoy playing with and others that you didn't mind playing with but wouldn't go out of your way to play with again.

If you do want to play as a twosome play late in the day.

It is not that we want to deprive anyone. Me & the wife both play, and the problems we have had before is when they put us in a four-some and it is with two other guys, with another couple or two other women, no problem. Most, not all, guys view women golfers as inferior and treading on their sport. Now before someone, starts jumping and saying that is not true, I did not say ALL men, but I will say most.
Plus we enjoy that time as a couple, we took up golf together to be able to spend more time together. And I can say we do think of other golfers and avoid popular tee-times. And yes, I have paid for 4, at various courses to remain a two-some. Playing with just my wife is that important to me. But that is just me, and us.
I am sorry if this question upset anyone, it was not intended too.

I fully understand what you are saying. If you are on the computer tee time system and you go to the 3 days out tee times the system will show if you are joining either 2 guys or 1 guy and 1 lady or 2 ladies. This will help you do what you would like to do as far a lady guy thing. The system shows this at either the Champ or Exec courses. My wife dosen't want to play with 3 guys as I would not like to play with 3 ladies. I will play with all ladies if one is my wife. The computer tee time system will enable you to see what you are getting as long as you do the 3 days out. If you go for a request before 3 days it is pot luck.

Army Guy, I know what you are saying relating to playing golf with your wife. My wife and I are the same, we love doing things together and enjoy couples golf more than guy golf. Not saying I don't enjoy being around and playing golf with the guys but not all the time.

Hi Army Guy,

My husband and I always feel fortunate when we get to play as "just" a twosome. When I first started playing I was fairly intimidated by being paired with two men - I always thought they must be so much better. And I also experienced a little of the attitude you describe.

That being said, we have met lots of great people form all over the world. We played in TV with a couple originally from Iceland and now living part-time in TV and part time elsewhere in Europe! I especially like being paired up with another couple, so please PM us when you get to TV (we will move in late April) if you would like to play with another couple.

ok, we will have to look at that on the computer and see. Didn't know that was possible, nut we like that. If we could make it couples or women that would be great.
And yes, we also have met some great couples when we have played with others. It is just the us and two other guy mix that causes the angst. And I know it does for them too.

I also enjoy playing with my wife, but if we link up with two other guys, I have never found that to be an issue. If they go out as a two some, they have to expect that and it should not be an issue.

Short story. I went to this golf course to play by myself in Virginia. (private club) Go to tee and there is two women they sent me out with. THANK god I didn't say or think anything about playing with women. They tell me they are playing the blue tees, for which I thought some strange things, but still just said OK and watched as they tee'd it up. She was about 5' 3", maybe 110 pounds, and her drive went close to 300 yards. Now guess who was embarrassed. On my best day, maybe 275 for me. Well my first drive went about 255, and I bogied the hole while she got a birdie. Her friend got par. Turns out she was Chris Tschedder (sp) an LPGA professional. Very nice lady and a great golfer who would have to give me lots of strokes. She out drove me by a lot on every hole. Shot a 70 from the blue tee's, while I got a great round for me at an 88.

So lesson learned. Play and let play and enjoy the game with who ever they put you with. And if you get with two other guys that have a problem, it's their problem, not yours.

Army - I also know what you are saying but personally I don't care what gender the other players are. I have more of an issue with slow players than i do with quality of play or attitudes. In other words I'd rather play with someone who shoots 110 and keeps up than with someone who shoots 75 and is a jerk (and slow!) irregardless of gender.

Russ, I am so with you. That is one thing I will say, neither my wife or I are the world's greatest golfers, BUT we play ready golf, and are always done playing ahead of schedule for both 9 or 18 holes.
Slow players make the game boring!

My wife and I don't mind playing with 2 other guys... the only thing that is frustrating is that many times, the men we are playing with, tend to forget we have a woman playing and drive down the fairway after teeing off while my wife stops at the women's tee. Now we have to wait until they realize she hasn't hit her shot yet!

Default Playing with women !!!

I hate playing with my wife and also with other women......I do it , but I hate it, It embarrasses me when they out drive me and blast out of the sand to beat me on a hole I should have one.....or they win a 2.00 Nassau and when I go to pay them they want to know if I have any clean one's ..I hate playing with FEMALE RINGERS who claim they just started playing the game and they have a coin changer around their waist....I don't believe them when they tell me they bought their callaway FTIQ at a garage sale or when they have a magic marker in their bag for autographs ....I hate it that my wife takes the game so seriously that we have to bet something on every game....

Now if you'll excuse me I have to go fix dinner......

fumar ..
