Take Ellen out of the judges chair and make her the host and make Ryan Seacrest the judge. Aslo get rid of the other babe and get back to 3 judges.

Reuben Studdard has made a few R&B records, and is doing very well.

I think this is another year that the second place person is going to outshine the winner in the real world. Unfortunately, there have been too many of those seasons!
Jennefer Hudson has done well winning an Oscar in her first ever film. Think that she will continue her acting over singing talents.

The best show this season was when Harry Connick, Jr worked with the contestants over and above what other pro's did on the show. HCJ would be a tremendous replacement for Simon; what a talent!!

OK, we just got back from vacation and our daughter's graduation and intentionally avoided any contact with Idol or shows talking about the results until we could watch it on DVR. Having now done so, it's hard to knock the final result. However, had Crystal won, I wouldn't knock that result either. I think they both had some incredible performances over the course of the season. From the beginning of the season I thought Lee was the only male that had a chance. There were a number of strong females on the show, but Crystal was the best during the entire season.

As to their future success, it depends on what kind of support each are given. Where Lee excelled was in the heavily produced numbers like "Hallelujah" and I loved the creativity that he showed with the bagpipe number. Assuming that he was instrumental with the creativity that went into these productions and if he links up with backers that can provide the financial support to offer these productions, I would definitely pay to see him in concert (I probably replayed the Hallelujah number 15 times, I liked it so much).

However, if these performers have to claw their way to stardom with a more modest budget and backing, I think that Crystal has a better chance. She has the talent to carry a show just by herself and a small backup band/vocalists. I was impressed that with some the numbers that she had with the "stars" on the final night that it was her voice that was much better and more likeable than that of the stars.

Actually, that idea really makes a whole lot of sense! Ellen is way too nice to be a believable judge. Idol needs at least one judge who "tells it like it is". Not just gives compliments. And Seacrest would probably do that.

It was always evident that the contestants and the audience were anxious to hear Simon's comments after each song. Although the contestants liked the praise from the other three judges -- they really valued Simon's praise because it was tough to earn it.

Default It looks like Randy Jackson may be the only surviving judge when AI starts up again.

They seem to be getting 2 new judges on AI and going back to a 3 judge panel format. The new judges are supposedly Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler.

Does anyone know if Crystal has made any music I can buy yet? I still think her rendition of "People Get Ready" was the best thing I have ever heard on Idol.

According to a June 17, Billboard.com article, she is working on her first album but her touring schedule is slowing it down somewhat. She signed a recording deal with 19 Recordings and Jive Records.

It looks like officially Randy Jackson is the only surviving judge from last season's AI.

Personally, I really liked Simon Cowell's honesty and will miss his comments about various contestants. Do not see Mr. Jackson adding all that much to the show with all his "hey, dog" comments.

I agree, Tal. I think Simon was the glue that held the program together and made it interesting. The performers all respected his comments and opinions.

I don't know much about Stephen Tyler, perhaps he has a unique style?

Default What do you think of the "new" American Idol judges and their first show.

I watched the first show of the new season of American Idol and liked the new judges. Kind of wish they would have dumped Ryan Seacrest and Randy Jackson too though.
