Default That’s why we have amendment 3.

That’s why we have amendment 3. It never will eliminate property taxes. It only increases exemptions. Property taxes on commercial real estate, second homes and homes valued over a million dollars will all pay. It will make Florida more affordable for the middle class.

All school taxes will stay.

They also have to contract an engineering firm and construction crews to expand the community center and add a new playground. They'll also need two new elementary schools, and renovate the middle school and high school to accommodate the influx of new students.
That is my problem with government spending. I don't think all of those extra expenditures would be necessary. Governments rarely make an effort to keep costs low - especially when they can just keep raising taxes. Unless you cut off the unlimited funding, government will spend it.

A new playground? Perhaps share the one that exists?

Substitute "rec center," "sports pool," or "golf course" for "playground."

I'm not so sure you would consider the gate attendants, rec center personnel, and trash trucks to take care of your neighborhood to be unnecessary extra expenditures.

Most middle class Floridian's can't afford their own home and Amendment 3 will shift the tax burden onto renters.

It’s unknown what will be cut or where burdens may shift. For sure there will be less waste like what we currently have here in Wildwood.

Governor proposed to eliminate property taxes. What a dumb idea!

You can't find the waste. If you can tell us what is and what the dollar amount is. We are waiting on your response.

An amendment could have been introduced to provide for increases, without mandating the dollar amount. Instead, the current state administration turned our state's constitution into political posturing.

They could've said - effective 2027, the current homestead exemption will double to $100,000. Homestead exemptions values shall be revisited and renegotiated following the 2030 census, and then again every five years.

That would've made much more sense, and provided for a more gradual municipality adjustment to decreases in revenue. It'd also provide more incentive for municipalities to ROUTINELY check their needs, costs and expenses compared to their revenue.

Will amendment 3 impact rec centers, pools, or golf courses or gate attendants, rec center personnel, and trash trucks?

Amendment 3 will very likely affect the equivalent services for Sumter residents outside the Villages.

Anyone wonder where the survey poles get their info to text phones?

In 13 days I have received 29 texts vote for ______ or amendment_____, or how I voted. Here is the Interesting part 6 text for where I am currently registered to vote. 23 texts from 3 different states that we owned property, but only one as a previous registered voter.

So if I texted 1 for yes 2 for no how many people Can skew results because of incompetent poll survey companies?

So a playground built in the area that was once the geological center of town back in the 1960's, to accommodate up to 1000 households kids - is sufficient for twice that many kids, half of whom live too far from it to ride their bicycles or walk?

I think we could save a ton of money here in The Villages by not building any more rec centers, golf courses, entertainment venues, shopping districts, town squares (or similar). Just build houses. Heck build as far west as possible, past Bushnell all the way to Homosassa. But no amenities. Make them all go to Brownwood, and give all those 300,000 new Villages residents their IDs so they can all use your rec center and pool, and fight you for a t-time at your favorite golf course.

That's basically what you're suggesting every county and municipality should do.

I voted by mail, almost 6 weeks ago. Text messages regarding the amendments have come maybe once every other day. When you vote early - you receive fewer texts, fewer e-mails, fewer phone calls, fewer people knocking at your door. The snail-mail cards don't ever stop but that's because bulk mail costs less so they just mail them to every registered voter even if they voted already.

Default Why the old lines of 2006

In 2006 all was doom and gloom for the homestead exemption increase…None of which happened!

Did we lose our police or fire protection?
NO

Did schools close because of it?
NO

Did libraries close?
NO

Did it still pass and are you enjoying it today if you have claimed it since it’s passage in 2006?
YES

The negative chicken littles are a bit much.
