Absolutely but not if there is a conflict with FL regulations. i.e. if a province issues a legal drivers license to a 15 year old (not that any do) and FL minimum age for licensing is 16, that 15 year old does not have reciprocal privileges to drive in FL. That's pretty standard with all states. (this is just an example)

Even then... 10 minutes? I can go a half mile in 10 minutes. Quote:

How would anyone get their golf cart to the golf courses if they were banned?
Here is a link to the golf cart safety brochure. (you may have to scroll down a little) Village Community Development Districts Also, found this at the Homeowners' Association website The VHA Golf Cart Safety Clinics are held the third Wed. of each month with he exception of December always at 10:00am at Savannah Center and are free to The Villages residents. |

Yes, Canadian licenses are valid here, and your licenses are valid in Canada.

Let's not worry too much about something not even remotely on the radar. There are enough real topics worthy of our collective wisdom where our positive energy can be focused. All IMHO, of course.

but I must add.... In some golf course communities, the only carts allowed on the course are the ones owned by the course. Our friends live in such a posh community in Sarasota and the cart fees are twenty five dollars a round. You must also pay LARGE initiation fees each time you buy there (they have had two homes) and the monthly fee of approximately six hundred dollars, not including the club house meals fee that must be paid whether you use it up or not. Very typical of a upscale private country club. We have almost all of that at a very reasonable price. We are so lucky. Consider this a hijack. Topicop will be here soon.

Golf carts will never be banned. What will happen over time is more regulation. The local government in it's never ending quest for more money will view carts as a cash cow. There will be inspections, speed tests, registrations, licenses, all in the name of safety and your protection. Isn't government wonderful to be so concerned about us?
And then the insurance companies will want there piece of the pie and cost of insurance will increase to the point where some people will give up their carts.

L2...perhaps that is where things are heading. Sumter County is the governing body (for the majority of the Villages) and the commissioners and Sheriff are elected by the voters. I think if they start messing with us too much they will see an increase in Villages voter activism that will result in "pro-resident" candidates running for and winning office. So, they also have a vested interest in keeping us happy.

Personally, I do not think all of that is a bad idea. The speed tests, registration, and insurance should be mandatory on golf carts. With over 50,000 golf carts in The Villages, these ideas could not hurt the community. |

Easy - have them take an online course, followed by an online exam. They could then print out a license. Not perfect, but would require most people to at least study the rules of the road prior to getting into a cart. They could be told that was a prerequisite when they call to book a lifestyle preview.
