Default Baseball

I don't play baseball, but does everyone have their own bat or paddle? Does everyone have their own balls that no one else touches?
Do catchers sanitize the ball before throwing it back?
My point is: are you the only one touching your stuff?

I suppose you could wear gloves, I wear them because they remind me not to touch my face. (Mine are a bit uncomfortable so I am always aware of them). And eye protection, like sunglasses. It’s coming close to people I see more of a problem with and even that could be solved by everyone wearing a mask. People wear masks to protect others and if everyone wears one, everyone is protected. I could see how to play mostly safely.

In our own individual lives, the choice whether to abandon a comfortable local maximum can be wrenching. If life is good (or safe) already should I consider changing the status quo? My parents taught me that the "very best" is always the enemy of "just good enough" as is "leave it alone" is to "make it better". Back in the olden days, my psychology professor taught us that as a rule, people become more content as they age. A plausible explanation is that the prospect of making "dramatic" improvements or changes in one's life recedes, as anxiety increases about taking on the associated labor and risks.

Use of a pool is fine. But I think it should be swimming only. Keep proper social distancing, no masks needed in pool. No social gatherings at pools. If you feel the need to socialize and feel this is no big deal, invite your friends to your home. I think instead of loungers and tables I saw in pictures it should just be a chair to put your things to discourage visiting. I also hope monitors are given the authority to remove those who won't follow rules so everyone isn't punished.

I agree. The villages, who are not elected officials, are controlling our lives. As experts have said the virus does not last long in an outdoor environment. Extra precautions, such as wearing a glove on left hand, cleaning balls etc. make pickleball quite safe. Wearing a mask while playing will be difficult if not impossible.

LOL, I actually have played and umpired quite a bit of softball in the past and I can assure you that on an all male team they all come equipped as stated. As to the second question: Jeeze , I hope so.

I will take precautions. People say smoking doesn't bother people outside. That is BS. I can smell it cigarette smoke well over 6 ft away. . Some one coughs it can go further than 6 feet especially on a windy day. Anyone can spout out statistics. Therefore I will wear a mask, hat and a shield just so I don't become one of those statistics.

John. What would we do without you? Just another cool thing that made us all feel better. Thank you, Sir.

I see that you are a new poster so assume you are a new resident. You are right, those controlling some of your life (County and CDD Board excluded) are not all elected. This is a privately owned developement, always has been and hopefully will always be. I'm sorry that you didn't know this before you moved here (assume you live here). Please join me in asking all people that are contemplating moving here to do their due diligence before making the leap.

So right. You are one of the smartest and most reliable people who post on these forums.

I was not meaning to be unkind. I lived in Michigan for 25 years and biked paths that ran through their territory. They do like their guns, but for the most part they don't cause problems; they just want to be left alone. There are many paramilitary groups around the country who are focused on keeping government out of their lives. The initial protest in Michigan was staged mainly by the Michigan Militia. Later protests added other groups--fishermen, for one, who had been told they could not put their fishing boats on the water, while sailors could.

I stand by what I said, and the reason I said it.
