Default Close???

It’s almost quicker from some points in the villages south of 44 to go to Clermont. Sick of everything being built up north. Even the villages admin is moving to Brownwood to be closer to the center.

I agree.I live in the far north, about a mile south of 42. It takes me about 50 minutes to get to the Claremont store and I'll bet close to half of that is just driving down 301 to get to the turnpike.

I agree. A location on 466A would have been a better choice. The southern part of TV needs more shopping choices.

Traffic will likely increase but I don't think it'll be a nightmare. I think for most people, Costco isn't a place that you go to multiple times a week like a Walmart or Publix. Most of the people I know go there like twice a month or something. I'm also pretty sure Costco has done traffic studies.

The biggest caveat might be the gas station, if it is significantly cheaper than the surrounding gas stations. Hopefully they put it somewhere where it doesn't impede traffic going in and out of store itself. They are usually pretty good about having multiple entrances though, so you can avoid the gas station area.

I guess we'll finally find out now!

Oooooooh, Habit Burger? I am a big In-N-Out fan of course, but the Habit's fries are much better than INO's!

Gas is usually about a dime a gallon cheaper than surrounding areas. Significant if you fill up often or with big tanks (RVs, Trucks, etc.). However, I would say that Buc-ee's tends to beat Costco by a nickel in my casual observational experience. If you're frugal or still working and commuting, it can be significant over time. In my working life I was filling up 2x/week. Costco represented a $150/month savings. That was nearly $2000 a year! Well worth the cost of membership before I even walked in the door.

All I can say is that I liked their little tins of dark chocolate which are no longer available.

Nice to have a Costco in an area accessible by golf carts. Maybe the first in their chain? Are there trailers available for golf carts?

I predict the next Costco (after this one) will be in Ocala. Then maybe one in Gainesville. With the Walmart super center and Sam's club, Villages North already has lots of shopping. We do need something here south of 466A at some point!!

If you build it, they will come works in the movies but is not a great business model.

If you build it where they are, you are likely to have customers is better for business.

I don't have any idea how long Villages homes existed north of 466A before 466 began building out. Given that the large lot the Costco is getting was still vacant, it had not already been built out yet. 466A is still being developed. All of Trailwinds Village, the new Home Depot, and the upcoming Dollar Tree came about since the time I purchased near Brownwood. Once the customers were there, the businesses began filling in.

Looking at a map, I wouldn't be surprised if the area near Coleman, South of 470, or particularly where 470 meets the Turnpike isn't reserved for commercial development. But, it will be a little while, and a few thousand more homes, before that development really takes off.

Goldwing last video, had all of the newest properties of TV on a map. His estimate, in the next 5 years, 25,000 more homes for the next villages.
