You can just hide the friend and visit their page when you have the urge. That way you can stay connected with them and not have to see everything they post.

Although being cautious about what you post on Facebook is excellent advice, cashman's statement is not accurate.

Facebook enables you to control what can seen by anyone (the public) and what can be seen by your friends, whom you specifically select. Now I will grant you that Facebook's control panel used by you for controlling who sees your information is not exactly easy to understand. But I believe it is accurate to say that the pubic sees much less than your friends see.

We use FB every day. It's fun to see what relatives so far away are doing.

We are also totally addicted to the SCRABBLE and have at least 5 games going!

May I ask a crazy question? What is the difference between using Facebook and sending emails to your family and friends? I use email to stay connected and have not yet grasped the concept of Facebook. Thanks.

Because the younger generation won't sit down and write you and email, but they will post for the whole world to see what they are doing!!! Just another way to keep in communication with them.... I do use emails for my "more mature" friends and relatives who like to have a one on one converstation.

Yes, I use facebook and check it daily.....nice way to keep up with the kids, etc.
It's also nice to see the pics friends post.

I like the feature of grouping friends. I have Florida friends, work friends, forum friends, etc......

Actually, I have been resisting Facebook ... fearful that it would take up a lot of time. I wasn't sure I would be interested in it. Many friends here in TV and 'back home' have been on it and encouraged me to join. It wasn't until I read this thread that I realized the extent to which our generation is joining in...so, on this somewhat stormy Sunday my resolve broke down and I now have a Facebook page.

Gee, Jan, thanks for starting this thread. I need a
