I have a whistle & dog horn so I guess I need to carry them when just popping outside for a quick trip. But I know if I use them the owner will be aggressive and yelling at me again for doing so, I think I'm supposed to stand there.

You are a quick learner, Andrea.

That means you upset her much more than she upset you. In my book, that means you won.

My friend breeds and shows American Staffordshire Terriers, he offered me two beautiful puppies. They need constant training more energy than I have so regretfully I didn’t accept them. They would have easily solved your dog problem though.

"and it is legal even on your property" ?
How? I believe the easements are only for utilities...

You pay the property taxes right to the edge, it's your property. Utility workers can access to work on, install utilities. All others are trespassing.
Isn't it interesting how some rewrite, interpret laws to suit themselves.

Carry bear pepper spray. It is horrible that a dig or dogs will pay the price for their owners ignorance, but what choice do you have.

Carry a strong spray bottle filled with straight ammonia. Dogs may still charge, but only once. And/or stop at a consignment shop and pick up an old 3-wood. 1 to the chin should stop them.

I have a walking stick I picked up when I had my knee replaced. $200-something on Amazon, solid Carpathian Oak with a metal figurine for a handle that must weigh over a pound by itself. One swing from that would convince any dog that perhaps attacking me isn't the best choice...

Carpathian Oak? If the metal head piece is silver then you have a weapon for killing werewolves. Mere dogs wouldn't stand a chance.

Wherever you are in life, there will always be a dog owner that is not bright enough to operate a leash or have control of their dog. Of course, these same dopes cannot follow leash rules or pick-up after their dogs. They are always ready to yell, "don't worry, fluffy is friendly". Like I care how friendly your off leash dog is. Learn how to use a leash and please don't leave home without it connected to your dog. If you believe a leash is inhumane, go to the dog park or stay home.

When you are in public, any space outside of your yard or a dog park, have your dog on a leash and pick-up after it.

We have three dogs and walk them in parks daily. Daily, we get to experience dog owners who should never own a dog. Huge signs noting a leash requirement and their stupid dog running around bothering everyone in the park. We understand that not everyone wants to interact with our pups. Our dogs are always on a leash, quiet, and we pick-up after them.

question - Is this your opinion or an ordinance? Do dogs need to be on a leash if they are on "the owners" property?
I take my dog out to do his thing... off leash... on my property. He doesn't run away. He just does his duty.
Are you telling me every time I take my dog out on my property I have to have him on a leash?

You are absolutely correct about who owns what on your property. It's all yours, but you must give utility workers access to it--but not dogs or anyone else!

Where do people come up with this false idea that part of your yard is public property because there's an easement on it? It's amazing how many have misinterpreted this, including a good friend of ours who now knows better.

We have rescued a black lab mix. I was reluctant to bring him home at first because I knew from walking him at the Humane Society that he's a marker, and old and probably not going to change his marking ways. I let him mark around our property, then keep him on my right as we face traffic to walk. This puts him on the street but still close enough to be safe. In summer we will walk early morning and after dark. It's not a problem to keep him off others' yards. I mean, c'mon. Who's the boss?

Such wise words! Boy do I wish You were my neighbor instead of her its just common courtesy & common sense & I left behind many bad neighbors not thinking I would end up next door to another inconsiderate human that is upsetting my enjoyment of this place. I guess a person that follows all the rules isn't right for my neighborhood? The fact that she yelled at me brings one word to mind "bully" and I don't like bullies! She will continue to harass me with her dogs and any action I take will certainly bring her screaming at me. I need a third party to handle this but the only neighbors I know also unleash their dogs so I am on an island here. This is so bad for my anxiety as I am now having to be prepared when I go outside. I used to have a condo board to help but there doesn't seem to be any help here except to call the authorities.. Shame
