LOL - I live 5 miles from Woodfield Mall, and I haven't been there once this year. I would happily move to TV tomorrow, but family obligations keep me in Chicagoland for now. 33 days until my visit to TV begins, but who is counting? And I can't wait to check out Fenney and the other new villages that have opened in the past 3 years.

I don't know about people used and not wanting to buy in Fenney and the Pines. The last article I read in the paper stated that new and used sales were very close, used was about 10% higher if I remember correctly. It was in one of last weeks editions. Also, if you want a new home you don't have a lot of choices regarding in which village to buy.

Something I noticed in the photos of new homes for sale in Fenney is the patio villas are being built with a 2 car garage. Man, that would of solved a lot of people moving in TV if they did that ten years ago, same with CYV's.

What was weird and obviously shows they sometimes don't think, was advertising 2 patio villas with a 2 car garages, one was listed for $168K and other for $172K. On the same page was a cottage 2BR 2BA with a 12' garage door and it was listed for $180K. Now if things haven't changed, the patio villa bonds were $10,000 and cottages were $21,000. So I'm going to pay $8,000 more for the 2BR cottage over the 2BR patio, which has the 2 car garage, and pay another $11,000 for the bond. Not much thinking went into that plan.

One thing I know about Fenney from last night's expedition from the airport is that people who live there get home a lot earlier than we do when they take the Village Airport Van.

If it sold in 4 days perhaps you should question the skills of the agent for underpricing. Would also question anything that came out of her mouth after that.

Nope, 2 valid appraisals showing valid comps. House was spotless, very popular model with Village in great location.

Nobody? You should ask her who is buying all those houses.
Obviously no one with the name of Nobody.

50 sales per month, build out will take 4 1/2 years, Fenny alone.

Once Osceola Hills and Pine Ridge/Hills sell out, the sales in Fenney will mostly likely accelerate. Also, cart access to the rest of The Villages will likely help to accelerate sales. I know a couple who are having a house built in Fenney now. For them, there was no other option because of what they were looking for in a new house. If history has taught us anything it is that there is no "build out" for The Villages, the new areas will sell, and what was once viewed as "too far away" isn't really "too far away" as people mostly use the amenities in their immediate area. The only negative I see at the moment is the approximately 2 year wait for golf cart access.

It's too bad that the development didn't start at 44 but I understand why it couldn't. It'll all catch up quickly just like when the development crossed both 466 and 466A. Naysayers then, naysayers now, and a repeat with the next expansion.

I remember when we bought our first house in Pennacamp. Almost every person we met that asked where we lived thought we were crazy because we were living at the end of TV and it was the most remote place . We would never be able to enjoy ourselves or sell our home because of its location. Isn't it amazing everybody has an opinion of why you shouldn't have bought where you did.
So we did love the location, and we did sell the house with no problems. Location of your home is all in the eye of the beholder. It still amazes me that people will chastise you of where you're thinking about purchasing your home or where you live. After all you're not spending their money it's your money

I'm not sure that the intent of people who post on this thread, or on any thread, is to chastise others.
I think they're just offering their opinions, which can be very varied.
Well, I've rethought that -- a few people chastise.
But for the most part, I think that comments on TOTV are productive and a learning tool for all of us.
I knew nothing about Fenney before this thread. Now I think it's probably a great place to call home.

I don't understand why there are negative posts regarding a village by a non-resident of that village to begin with. If they don't want to live there so be it but why bash something you haven't tried. If there is a time that I see negative posts from residents of Fenney I'll pay attention to the content, otherwise I guess it's a form of jealousy or some mental irregularity of sorts.

Maybe it's how Fenny was introduced (buildout really was to end with Pine/Osceola Hills) Rohan billed as the last rec center has a stunning tribute to TV as its theme. Marketing reps were getting fired in anticipation of the buildout. People may be tired of all this construction going on. Traffic is getting heavier, Colony is ridiculous . Maybe it's because Fenny didn't start out as Fenny ( the land is not owned by the developer) Maybe because of it's remote location and total disconnect. Maybe it's because our southern rec centers are already at and beyond full capacity during the "season" especially. Maybe because the red headed cousin wasn't supposed to be born in the first place. Trust me, there is no jealously going on. It's just that it wasn't supposed to be ( mother told us so) and it will take time to get use to the idea that it exists at all.

We first looked in 2000 and that was supposed to be the build out year and each year the build out has been extended. Why stop building when people still want homes here? If there is a demand, why not increase the supply? Guess Harold Swartz thouht Orange Blossom Hills might be the "build out". I'm glad some people still, have a vision for the future. It's what continues to make the world go,round.
