i lived near stateville prison in illinois that doesnt worry me

When we looked at houses they were less, taxes Sumter, with fruitland park as well. When it's done it will not feel that removed. Think of it as going up to Lopez. Op take your time looking at houses. I love it down there as did our oldest and our Grands. There is a village for everyone

Had lunch with friends at Fenney Grill the other day. I must say the grill and pool looks like a resort. The woods are lovely. I'm sure the people buying there are anxious to see some commercial development.
From my house in Hemingway it took a good half hour to get there. And finding our way out of Fenney took almost as long.

Hah! I clearly remember Mark (Morse) standing on the stage at a VHO meeting about three years ago and saying "We will be building 2,000 homes south of 466A and then NO MORE. That's it. no more

Living in Fenney is unlike any other area within TV. It truly is a country atmosphere and very peaceful at this point. I for one do not miss hearing gas powered golf cars zipping up and down the streets but unfortunately that will change before we know it and there will be fueling stations available for them. It's true that Fenney only has one rec. center just like the other villages north of here, as the new villages are built down here there will be more of them just like up north. It is nice that we have our own restaurant and bar which I believe is a first for a rec. center and this fall the hours will be extended into the late evening. Phase one is well under construction and has a ton of lakes and ponds allowing for many homes to be waterfront including villas, south of Fenney way there is a huge amount of natural areas, woods, springs, lakes and unspoiled areas that will be here forever. Having all this water and nature is very refreshing. The first two golf courses will be open this fall as well as the putt and play course and a catch and release fishing area. Softball fields, dog parks, air gun ranges are all on the way. The first sport pool area is complete and the Blue Heron neighborhood pool is also open. The nature walk is near completion and should be open soon and there are already miles of paved walking trains available in both park like setting as well as in full sun along Fenney Drive. I would assume that the negative posts here are an attempt to sway people away from homes here and if that were to happen the quiet serenity here would last forever but there is no chance in H___ that these home will not sell rapidly, this area has been well thought out and is a remarkable addition to The Villages. The only negative we have found is the distance we have to travel for shopping, 5 miles to the nearest Publix and 10 to Walmart, that will change soon. It's also only 5 miles to Paddock Square with only two stoplights between here and there, one at 44 & 301 and the other just before the entrance to the square and we are nearer to Sumter Landing that those in the northern villages are. Travel wise it is 2 miles to the Turnpike interchange, 60 minutes to Kissimmee, and 1 hour and 45 minutes door to the beach at New Smyrna. There have been a lot of comments about being near the Federal Prison in Coleman, there is a greater chance for all of TV to have a sink hole incident than there is to have a prisoner escape, the prison is not a concern. We saw our first large alligator just this evening, that is a bit of a concern but there are systems in place to take care of them if they become a problem. Don't be afraid to buy down here, this is the future of TV.

I agree...Fenney is lovely and all that buy there will be happy if they want to be. I love the area but am too deeply routed in our neighborhood to move but if I were just looking it would be on my radar. I know you will love your new home

nope, google maps shows distance from Backstage Grill in Fenney to Starbucks in Lake Sumter Landing as 11.6 miles, 21 minutes in a car

Distance from Nancy Lopez clubhouse to Starbucks is 7.1 miles.

I think the more they build, the better/different are the ideas they come up with. For instance, the 18-court pickleball complex at Rohan that is separate from the multi-court tennis complex. I like that better than a few courts sprinkled here and there, and you don't have enough courts and consequently lines out the door in the winter. The rec center complex at Fenney sounds great, and the walking trails too. Then there are the lots allowing fences, and the big lots for horses. I'm not necessarily in favor of building till kingdom come, but they are coming up with some interesting ideas.

Thanks for letting us what living in Fenney is like. I am so confused as to why there are so many negative comments about living there and wanting others not to buy. So many concerns about something that does not effect those who choose not to go there.

Its just amazing on how everything is progressing there, and am so glad you are enjoying the new village. Keep us updated on things, we drive down every couple of weeks and as always impressed on what the developer is doing to make our life great.

Whatever floats you're boat, the best thing about TV is diversity, people, houses, etc-we all bought a lifetyle=nothing more-the lack of diversity are the resturants

We recently sold our house on the main campus in 4 days, our sales agent can't keep her listings for more than a couple of weeks up here. Why ? "Nobody" wants Fenny, according to her because of location, and Pine Hills/Ridge because of taxes. That is her experience talking with buyers. The negative opinions you read here may reflect this.

I did too and my 'takeaway'...was a sandwich from the grille.

Hey, it's a long trip back to the Lake Sumter Landing area.

I'm always interested when people sell in The Villages. If it's not too personal, where are you moving to?
Oh whoops, sorry, the topic of this thread is Fenney. I'm off on a tangent, please ignore my question.
