Default Eminent domain is here in the villages!

Eminent domain land acquisition is in the forecast in the Village of DeLuna and possible other Villages along the Sabal gas line. I understand there are over1500 homes that will be affected. Sabal is going to put another gas pipeline along side the existing pipeline and it will effect all residence along the walking path where the existing pipeline is.this will,of course, lower the value of your property. This should be a concern. A small group in DeLuna have been talking to a lawyer. This pipeline,to my understanding, will probably be put in by 2029. Sabal will offer nothing or a very small amount for the value of the property they take. It is important that you see an eminent domain lawyer asap and that an eminent domain appraisal is done before Sabel lowballs you. We have a small group in DeLuna that have met with an attorney already. I hope this informs all resident who reside along the present gas line.

Where is the source material for your post? I'm seeing no reference to The Villages at all, with regards to Enbridge (Sabal Trail) forcing their way onto privately owned properties within the borders of The Villages.

I DO see one instance (which was well publicized awhile back) of one guy living in DeLuna who had a 500-gallon tank with extensive piping buried under his yard, but that was a local dispute and had nothing to do with the Sabal pipeline.

"Juries routinely awarded landowners significantly more than the initial valuations. For example, in Sunderman Groves, the jury awarded $309,500 compared to Sabal's initial offer of $56,800. Other landowners, like the Thomas family in Levy County, secured major payouts exceeding $1.3 million after years of litigation"

Multiply x 1,500 homes and you can see this is not very likely

The Sabal Trail pipeline is a 'done deal,' and now Central Floridians begin to realize what’s about to come through their backyards

The map is interesting.

So are the people in the article.

But they really need a more modern act. Linking arms and chanting is so...60's...

The Sabal Trail pipeline doesn't run through The Villages. It also isn't a new project: the map you're looking at is from an old article. Despite years of protests, the pipeline was finished and began carrying natural gas in 2017.

In Sumter County it mostly follows an existing Duke Energy power-line corridor, crossing I-75, State Road 44 and the Florida Turnpike on its way toward Lake County southeast of Center Hill. A 2017 report put The Villages about six miles northeast of where the pipeline crosses I-75, just north of SR 44 near Wildwood. So it passes to the southwest of The Villages, not through it.

I found a map, which I’ll need to find again, that showed a major gas line following the Turnpike through the Villages. Perhaps that is not Sabal but another gas line.

Here is the map. In 2017 that path may have been about six miles southwest of the Villages. The Villages has grown a bit since then.

I did that in 83 or 84 at the Rocky Flats Plant. We didn't get enough people to surround it but it was fun. Radioactive contamination from the Rocky Flats Plant - Wikipedia

The map you are looking for is on the National Pipeline Mapping System (NPMS) general public portal page.

It shows the Sabal pipeline crossing under 301 just North of the little group of CYV's at the Southern end of Silvana Wyoming. It continues East through the preserve area till it reaches the walking path North of Marsh Bend Trl. It follows the walking path corridor until it crosses under Haley Av. From there it parallels the Turnpike SE until just East of the Everglades softball fields where it turns South. It goes South down the West side of Marsh Bend Trail and under Warm Springs Av. On the South side of Warm Springs, it again turns East and crosses under Marsh Bend until it again reaches the Turnpike where it once again parallels the Turnpike until it turns South to the East of Bexley Trl.

If what you say is true, why are people getting notifications about the pipeline possibly going through there property?

Notifications from whom? Will you post a jpg of the notice or at least the text?

Odd that an official notice would use the word “possibly.”

Not my job. If you don’t believe it that’s ok. A friend of mine got the notification and told me.

To answer your question with the info you provided in response to mine….

The notifications might not be official at all. People might be getting notifications from a group desiring to protest against any pipeline and hoping to scare homeowners into joining them. The actual notification might clear this up but you haven’t seen it and I suspect most of us have not either.

According to the official web site of Sabal Trail Transmission, LLC, they are seeking to extend and expand their existing natural gas pipeline from Alabama to central Florida. The extension actually travels West from Al to Ms and will have no effect on Fl. The expansion involves placing a second pipeline along the same path, as much as possible, as their existing pipeline. According to the timeline shown on their web site, June, July and August of this year were for landowner engagement, introduction and requesting survey permissions. So, it would not be surprising that someone has received some type of document regarding the pipeline.
