It’s called Eutypella Canker, and is very common.

So, if you don’t mind hugging power lines, save a buck to live on Dyson Loop.

As an example, a Ruby on Dyson Loop is listed for $186,710 while an identical looking Rudy on Feulner Place is $213,140.

Not to be pushy, but cankers/burls happen on trees due to a fungus or bacteria. They happen naturally in trees everywhere. Woodworkers covet burls because they have beautiful grain and swirls. To associate burls with high tension power lines really isn't correct. But it makes good conversation. :-)

Default Consider that you walk on electric wires every day only 2 feet underground.

Not to mention, all the electricity that the inside of your home generates......NOT 90+ feet off the ground.

Do High Voltage Power Lines Cause Cancer?

We live on a preserve with power lines and my neighbors have been her for over 20 years.
They are in their 80's. WE HAVE NO WORRIES and love watching the eagles that roost on the support stantions every year.

Eliminates a lot of neighbors behind you, attracts wildlife, more private, and lately $500,000 is a bargain on water.

Take a 4ft florescence bulb and stand under the high voltage line and you’ll witness the power your body will be subject too 24 / 7.
This works if the lines are low enough.

I think that they do cause harm, I had a friend in Virginia, he let the electric company put high voltage lines, you could hear the lines humming, his cattle start to miscarriage and he had animals born with several problems (2 headed, 6 legged Cattle) had too many to disregard since before the lines he had no issues, he died of a rare form of Cancer. Yes I would never purchase a home near any overhead power lines.

To the OP’s original questions, I have noticed that also. There are several along the power lines that are priced low. I believe it’s because the developer knew there would be concerns by buyers of both esthetics and health concerns. I think if you are looking fo a rental it would be a great deal. I don’t know the answer as to any health dangers but I think if there were any it would be long term exposure for decades. Therefore if it is a rental it would be great either way.

In the more expensive home there is no carpeting in the bedrooms. At least that’s the way it looks in the few photos.

It creates a lower price point. People with a limited budget and are not fussy about the power lines may be very happy that they can buy a house for a little less.

In my humble opinion after briefly looking at both places, I think the difference is in view and the proximity to the High Tension wires. In the second house which is offered at a higher price, it appears to be further in proximity to the towers. If this house is only for a rental investment and no resale is considered, the lower price will bring a greater return of investment.

Same holds true for the homes that back to the turnpike. There’s something for everyone!

Yes but what are the long-term effects of the power lines cancers etc.??
I have seen more cheaper 55 + developments throughout the country placed near power lines where the land is cheaper but in the long run the long-term effects of being near these power generating lines and the effects of cancers and leukemia are untold
