It is obvious to me from this article and the one in the online news that the diligent and careful sheriff's department is doing their duty to be sure everything is researched but there seems to be no crime. It appears that the person who called them was overmedicated with alcohol and prescription medication which you should not take together.

As far as your personal security is concerned, The Villages is no different than most any other semi-rural small community with regard to incidental crime. In other words, anything bad can happen at any time and any place with zero warning.

That is the world today. Live your life accordingly. Be aware. Take basic personal and home security precautions ALWAYS. Not just when you hear of an incident near you.

Thanks Gracie for posting the Daily Sun article. I thought there was a lot of discrepancies in the TOTV posts. I haven't been able to pull up the article on the online newspaper. I've have even done searches on home invasion, assault, rape and August 16. I don't know if it is because I am in Michigan or not!?!?!

On the TOTV these folks have decided that any trash along the roadways is thrown there by renters or visiting children... never by anybody who actually lives here full-time.

All burglaries are committed by the landscaping or construction people. Actually, these supposed burglaries don't actually even happen; these are just rumors started by somebody who hates the Villages for some unknown reason. Perhaps a resident of some other community.

Keep your doors locked when not in use. Same for windows. Why in the world do people leave their garage doors open when they go somewhere?
The Villages is better than most... but some folks need waking up.

What I write is hearsay, so take it with a grain of salt. My friend and co-contributor in the original post on this thread, on the other hand, is a bona fide witness. He has spoken with the Duval victim and has seen the abrasions and bruises during a hospital visit with her caused by the perpetrator. In my opinion, The Daily Sun has misled its readers in stating that the victim's hospital visit has nothing to do with the home invasion.
