My vacation recently started in TV. I am looking around at different areas of TV and since I recalled some previous posts regarding some complaints of deed compliance violations, I'm just driving around to view some of those noted. The first one I drove by is in Lynnhaven, Livingston Loop. To see what the issues were I'll give the link to some previous posts on the topic: When the build out ends? See Post #25, with some others after that.
If the above link doesn't work directly, I suggest you cut/paste it into your browser. What an ugly mess this is! ![]() I fully recognize we all have different opinions of what is ugly versus what is beautiful. But as a potential (eventual) Villager, I'm wondering why, if these are deed compliance violations, why isn't The Village Deed Compliance Unit (or whatever the official name of the group is) doing something about it? After all, previous posters indicated that complaints were filed about the home. I sure would hate to have those people as my neighbor. As the saying goes, "There goes the neighborhood". Who else in the area nearby sees this mess (in my opinion), and will choose to do something similar of their own design? Heck, if deed compliance violations aren't dealt with, what's to stop anyone from doing whatever they want? I would think some property values in the nearby homes are going to suffer. I am personally in favor of regulations for maintaining homes. That insures that properties maintain their $$ value. That would be very important for me. What can you do in such a situation, since it appears TV is not being responsive to complaints? I'm not a sue-happy person and never have sued anyone. But, my property values are important to me. If the Deed Compliance Unit doesn't resolve the problem(s), can you sue The Villages because of lack of enforcement? Or, what could you do? ![]()

Mickey,
It's been a while since I read the full deed compliance notification/enforcement process, but, it's several cycles of notices before the CDD steps in to take action and bill the homeowner. Suggest you go to the districtgov.org website and browse through the procedures. You might also try to find the agenda/minutes for the numbered CDD that Lynnhaven sits in (my guess is either 5 or 6) and see what discussion the CDD board has had about this situation. If you're that curious you could call the CDD office and inquire... on the basis of being a prospective homeowner and having concerns about the compliance process. As you can see, this situation is a rarity, but, it can happen. I don't ever foresee this becoming widespread. I am confident that this home/property will eventually be brought into compliance.

Thanks Villages07! I'll try to find the minutes of the meetings. I don't feel comfortable calling the deed compliance unit since I don't anticipate purchasing for another couple years. Rest assured, I will be watching the situation very closely, and would hope that nearby neighbors keep us all informed of any updates via this website.

Regarding Deed Compliance, etc. The Village Gov. office will not take
action on anything unless there is a complaint. They do not independently take action but will if there is a complaint. It would be good to call Janet Tutt or Community Watch (352-753-0550) and action will be taken. You can also call Community Standards 352-751-6719. I don't think you need to give your name, etc. Community service is 352-753-4508. ![]() |

what other messes have you found here in tv while on your vacation? are you having any fun yet? hope you get to do more than just drive around! but, i daresay, if all you have time for on this vacation is driving around...you might want to check out the beauty rather than the mess...new flowers are being planted all around...again!

Seriously? You drove around, found a home with landscaping that you didn’t like, composed a scathing review of their landscaping...and then posted their street address on a pubic message board?!?

No harm comes to the homeowner. They are informed that their property has this or that out of compliance and they change it. We have just moved from an area that we lived for a long time that had deed restrictions. It is a good thing. I just reread all of the posts and the OP did give the address. I agree that isn't a good thing to do.

So let me get this right...you're on vacation and not set to "live" here for at least 2 more years BUT you're worried about a neighborhood that doesn't even impact you (because you don't LIVE here)! Why are you posting this and also putting up someone's address? I would think THIS would be an infraction and that this thread would be removed!!! Unbelieveable!!!!

I edited my above post because I didn't completely read the original post that gave the address. I agree that wasn't a good thing to do.
If something is out of compliance and you think it is just TOO much or it is really unsightly, you should call. I know I hate tattling and I wish that the Villages Watch would do it. If only everyone had really a good eye or really good taste...like we all think we do, then the restrictions wouldn't have to be there. One persons beauty is another persons yucky. One of the reasons this place is so beautiful are the deed restrictions.

To be fair, the OP is following up on an issue that was posted a month or so ago about a home in disrepair. In that thread, the street name was listed but not the specific address.
The gist of this thread is to assure that the deed compliance process has teeth to correct problems. For consistency, the specific street address will be removed. As always, please address the topic and not the person. |
