Just my own personal pet peeve...
My husband is a brain injury(DAI), (motorcycle), survivor, thanks to the helmut they had to peel from his head. That helmut allowed therapists like you the opportunity to re-teach him to walk, talk and read again. Thank you!

I am a motorcycle rider. Have been since a teenager and dirt bikes. Now ride a Harley Roadking. Every year and I repeat every single year, I take the HOG (Harley Owners Group) experienced rider training. I have even worked as an instructor for the class a few times. HOG charges you $55 for the class and Harley sends you a $50 gift certificate when completed. So it costs you only $5 as everyone has to spend at least $50 at the Harley store.

Anyway, they spend a full day training you to avoid problems. All done in a large parking lot with experienced trainers and a couple hours of classroom. How to swerve and react to something thrown in front of you, how to do an emergency stop both in a straight line and during a curve. How to spot potential problems using slides up for 1 second and testing your visual capability. Doing figure eights and pylon weaving. Testing your reaction time and several other safe riding techniques.

It improves you ability to be ready when something goes wrong. It reminds you of all the safe riding practices. It improves your riding skills. I take it every year and seem to always pick up some new tip to be a better rider. It may not help when someone turns directly in front of you, but just maybe this rider would have spotted the potential for a problem and adjusted his speed so he could have stopped or somehow missed the van.

I highly recommend this class to anyone who rides. It could save your life. And yes the class is available to you even if you ride a wannabee.

Had two motorcycles in the past. They were a lot of fun on the open road, but very little fun in congested areas. There were times I had been run off the road and when I confronted the driver there was always a look of bewilderment. With eight to nine million people in the metropolitan area one had to travel pretty far to get away. I no longer even have the desire to get on a motorcycle.

GREAT INFORMATION!

My husband rode for years and took all the courses. Nothing can stop an idiot from driving onto a highway with 700 plus bikers, who claims, not to have seen or heard them. Car and truck drives should be mandated to take safety courses for the safety of motorcycle riders.

We have people asking for lighter colored bicycles often, and we mention that the driver is the most visible part, not the relatively skinnier tubing of the bike frame.
In the case of the huge scooter in the foto, plus the king and Queen....
That is far more eye catching than most four wheelers...
add the disco show of lights....
who needs a light colored bike??

I just asked if they had a light colored bike prior to the one shown in the pic - I don't care what color their bike is.

From my glance at the motorcycle involved in yesterday's collusion, it was about the same color as Talk Host's pictured motorcycle.

I do not always see motorcycles when driving on the highway especially if they weave in and out of traffic as sometimes has happened on the Interstate.

First of all, I hope and pray that my fellow motorcycle enthusiast is not seriously injured.

Thank you for the update, Chi-Town.

I was in an interclub golf tournament today with LGAs from several clubs. The group behind us got way behind and we wondered why we didn't see them even when we could see two holes behind. Found out afterward than one of their carts had overturned. The ladies were thrown out of the cart, but thankfully suffered only scratches and bruises. That put the motorcycle accident in the forefront of my mind. On the drive home, I hoped to logged on and learn that the motorcycle driver had similar good fortune.

The cart driver reportedly was not driving fast or recklessly. She drove into the rough to find an errant shot. The rough was cut very high! The cart hit rock that wasn't visible above the tall grass.

When things like this happen, it's good to remind ourselves that careful is active, not passive.

Let's all be careful!
