Well, since you didn't chat with them you do not know if they are snowbirds. And, welcome to the Villages where many drive like morons, and they are not necessarily snowbirds. I am sure we could all tell about close calls from stupid choices.

The golf carts could all be required to have the same top speed to discourage passing. There could be cameras and any cart driver endangering a walker or a cyclist could get a ticket - if license plate numbers were required. And there have been other ideas and suggestions.
.......I think that it is pathetic that ANY bicyclist would have to sell their bike because Golf Cart drivers are dangerous and obnoxious. When it comes to being environmentally friendly, a bicycle is using no gasoline and giving off zero pollution. i believe that gas (not electric) golf carts pollute more than automobiles and trucks. So, in my opinion, bicyclists and walkers DESERVE their OWN trails more than golf carts, which are made to drive on golf courses and are NOT made for personal STREET transportation. They have too high of a center of gravity and weak brakes and shock absorbers. They are just not made for the street. Today there is an article about one golf cart knocking another golf cart over on its side and hospitalizing the driver. I would imagine that the high center of gravity and weak brakes of one or both of those carts played a role in that accident. And I know of a nurse in The Villages that speaks about the GREAT number of head injuries that occur from golf cart accidents (and not on the golf course where they belong).
Different day, same nonsense...

Rear view mirrors to walk? Is that your new talking point?

Aren't you supposed to be walking on the LEFT, FACING TRAFFIC?

How is a rear view mirror, clipped to your sunglasses, going to help with a cart coming directly at you?

My cart goes 21-22 mph, downhill, with a tail wind (I've never touched the governor...)

I can categorically state that I've NEVER been passed by anyone going more than 2-3 mph faster than I'm going...

35-40 mph? No way...

I have never seen anyone pulled over by the police in the eight years until the other day on Morse near LSL.

?? Try harder.

My response that you took exception to was made to the 2nd post I quoted. Yes, it was much farther down in the thread and was apparently written without having read the original post first.

I couldn’t care less about stepping into the grass, that was completely irrelevant (you might note that I avoided highlighting that section). The post I responded to (the response you took exception to) assumed that the OP needs to be told to walk facing oncoming traffic. Great advice but the original post clearly stated the OP *was* walking facing oncoming traffic. The poster would have known that if he had read the original post.

Does that make it easier for you to understand?

Some people find it really inconvenient to follow along and consider context. They'd rather just interject snide remarks and "gotchas" so as to shut down conversation entirely. And some folks aren't forum-savvy enough to understand how multi-quotes work (some folks don't know how ANY quotes work, which is evident by the myriad of broken quotes throughout this forum).

I got it, in any case. I saw the reference to the "take just one step to the left onto the grass" thing in Chucker's post, that you responded to.

To the OP situation, walking on the left to oncoming vehicular traffic is PROPER on streets. However, walking on the right is "better" on MMPs, even if TWO carts are on your left. But, that's my own safe opinion.

Maybe I can interject this food for thought into your "safe opinion": What do you think a pedestrian is more likely to be aware of----a golf cart headed straight at them when properly walking facing traffic, or an electric cart headed at them from behind? Just interested in your "safety".

Welcome to Snowbird Season!
The VHA has a Golf Safety class every third Wednesday at 9AM at Colony Cottage (no fee, no reservation - just a Villages ID). Unfortunately, that driver doesn't know or care about this incident so this is for others - not him or her.

PLEASE STOP BASHING SNOWBIRDS! (I am here year-round. BTW)

Perhaps it would be safer for you to walk in the street, with cars. Where no golf carts are allowed.

Uh huh. Before or after you replaced it with an Indy car engine?
