So, won't you please tell us how the scam companies wrangle the legitimate companies into giving their customers a new roof?
And, why on earth would someone trust a company that knocks on their door to do something as important as replacing their roof? Is the homeowner not allowed to choose their own roofer?

Where is the scam occurring at. The roofing company inspects a homeowners roof and finds damage. Is this the scam? I don't think so.
The Homeowner based on this inspection, reports the damage and files a claim. Is this the scam? Nope.
The insurance company sends a adjuster out and they either agree or disagree with the roofing company. If agrees, Homeowner gets a new roof, if disagrees, a suit is filed to let the courts decide if this is a legitimate claim.
So far I do not see a scam in play here. The only thing I see is a few roofing companies being very aggressive in seeking out homeowners with damaged roof, so far not against the law.
They actually are doing a service for the Homeowners as without their inspection, the Homeowner would not know their roof was damaged to a point it needed replacement.
Neither the roofing company nor the Homeowner has created the loss, it is what it is, so where is the scam???

I sounded the alarm to my insurance company two years ago nothing happened. I see a roof going on today on a house that had architectural shingles in a neighborhood where the houses went up in 2007. I hear Homeowners brag that they got a free roof. If you have high insurance rates and didn’t get it free roof thank your neighbor That got a new roof for free!

The roofing company Sue’s the insurance company’s and it is more costly to defend the case than to pay for the roof. The insurance company also pays the roofers lawyers if they lose.

I have Farmer’s Insurance and they sent me a notice of non-renewal last month. It renews in August. They gave me no reason for non-renewal, but I know it’s the roof, as it is 17 years old. I am paying for a new roof that is being installed at the end of this month. Even with a new roof, Farmer’s has told me they will not reinsure the house, so I am shopping for new insurance.

I was in your position with my insurance company. I could not get anyone else to take me on. I went to the State, I tried everything, finally, after getting a new roof installed, my insurance company grudgingly renewed with me. It was a nightmare. I wish yu well in your search.

Lawsuits. Read the POA lead article in this months Bulletin. The lawyers are what makes the scam possible,

Chi-Town....read the POA that was dropped in your driveway in the last couple of days. Do NOT ignore this paper, it has lots of important information about what goes on here in the Villages

We have our insurance through USAA , it’s offered for military.
They do not have the ‘ replace your roof ‘ requirements.

Yeah, this roof scam is a b***h! Insurance companies raising your rates and telling you it’s because your roof is 12 years old. Huh? But I have a 30 year roof. I have an inspection saying there’s no problem with my roof. Too bad, says the insurance company. Yeah? Too bad for you insurance companies. Shouldn’t start something you can’t finish.

Insurance companies are prohibited from increasing premiums on individuals. Instead, they "redline" an area and increase premiums on all policyholders in the redlined area. Health insurance companies use zip codes to calculate the premium because health costs vary by region. In both cases, if an individual policyholder becomes too expensive to continue to insure they just refuse to renew the policy.
