I you read on you will see my long post regarding my experience using SunKool, having a contract with them, and having my Carrier unit, less than 5 years old go out…for weeks. You would think that using the installer would fix it in a speedy manner. Life as we knew it as changed.

For anything other than a compressor there should be a work around.

Oh believe me I tried that when mine was out. Try as I might, they refused to put in a new unit and mine was still under warranty for parts and labor.

Seems to be a new home though under warranty

I read not so long ago that when temps climb to 95 degrees outside, no A/C unit
will cool any house at 75 degrees, or 20 degrees cooler then the outside.
That is apparently the maximum cooling for any size unit.

Don't how true that is, maybe someone here can verify this.

Portable unit we purchased is not helping much at all. No answers and nowhere to go from here. Beyond the point of screaming!
Not sure what part it is and how complex the replacement is. But if It were me I would find out, and see about getting something on ebay, or even used and understand the difficulty of replacing the part. If something I felt comfortable doing, i'd replacie it myself, or getting someone to do it; at least as a temporary fix.

You should ask the manufacturer, too take the part out of a new unit
Good ideas but have done all of that with no success.

So, with all that said, it appears that Carrier and Munns are not the answer.

I just happened upon this Thread. May I ask or confirm. You ARE in The Villages and the A/C system is one year old? Is your home new and one year old? What is the “part” that is faulty? Who is the company servicing the unit? I am probably missing something here…. I find it hard to comprehend an A/C outage this serious.
Update from me. I was sure it was ME, not understanding or missing something. The OP seemed to be quite vague on facts. I went back and read all the OPs posts. A lot does not make sense to me. I’m beginning to be a sceptic on this one…. If this happened to me all holy hell would break loose… would not rest until it’s corrected.

Agreed, and the strangest part (no pun intended) is s/he has yet to post the part and part number and model of system that is so hard to find after being asked about 8x in this topic seemingly avoiding everyone who MIGHT JUST POSSIBLY be able to help.

Could it be that they don't know the part number?

Maybe they were just told "we need a part that's on back order"...

Sorry, any normal customer, IMO, would get the details, ask questions, and use that info to escalate. Something smells on this one, and not just the apparent sweat from the OP. I do hope that I’m wrong but (for most TOTVrs) wouldn’t YOU do everything and anything to rectify your A/C issue? Including reaching out here with specific details??? Would YOU endure one month of no A/C in the hottest weather here? Really…. Again I hope I’m wrong, but.

No it is a one yr old ac system. Home built in 2005. Also, I am hearing Carrier is having same issues with parts on dual speed units. It is all about the computer boards. Much the same as the auto industry.

A considerate repair service might at least install a temporary fix (cannibalize another broken one)

There are temporary solutions but would void the warranty unless the installing company performed it. A large AC company probably would not attempt it.

This does seem to be a common problem with Carrier based on a HVAC chat room. I would look high and low to buy another board. Even if they would not install it at least you would have a backup in case of another failure or a lightning strike.
