The June entertainment schedule in today's paper still includes Scooter the DJ.

If you believe everything you read on this forum..... If two men say they are Jesus, at least one of them is wrong. Gotta do the research.

I see where Scooter is scheduled for all 3 squares in June. So we are safe for at least another month.

Since this is about Scooter the " DJ " and DJ's in general along with the " Line Dancers " I will keep to the subject. Scooter has been in The Villages a very long time and without a doubt one of the most popular. Scooter used to play a wide variety of music to try to please everyone including visiting children...then he changed.

Well a few months ago I spoke to Scooter @Sumter Landing and during the conversation I asked him why he radically changed his format to basically accommodate the line dance crowd ( my words) his reply...because they will complain to management. So I said to him so basically you are being forced or bullied into playing the music what best suits the line dancers...His reply..YES !

Scooter is a terrific guy and it is a shame that he had to change. He has literally thousand of all types of music that he can pretty much take care of any request...But..his hands are tied.

As for the Line Dance crowd I can see why they are in favor of simply because of what I have stated.

I have watched the Line Dance crowd from time to time with mild amusement...all of them yes all..look bored, 40% stare at their feet, the others stare off in the distance like Zombies, shuffling forward , side to side, and a twirl now and then...all without making eye contact. They pretty much take over the space that " Real Dancers " would like and feel slighted when a tune comes on that is not to their liking.

Which brings to mind while having a cold brew last week @Sumter Landing during intermission a song by Michael McDonald came on " Real Love " and the " Zombies Line Dancers " tried to line dance to the song...it was actually Hilarious watching them stumbling around..I finished my beer and left before I fell over laughing so hard.

I do believe and predict that management will keep Scooter, however long term I also think that Scooter will gradually revert back to his original style..why ? The Line Dancers " Zombies " their numbers dwindle and they will fade into the Florida Sunset because of the upcoming changes in entertainment @the Squares .

I have to laugh when you the term real dancers. That leaves out 80% on the dance floor reguardless what's beng played. I relate that term to real golfers.

I been there several times never seen line dancers take over the entire dance floor or dance every song. No, I don't line dance.

As far as sticking to the topic I think you hatered for line dances subconscious got you off topic.

Late last evening, I received this message from Scooter the DJ and I quote:

“Rick,
I'm on the June schedule! See the Daily Sun or go to The Villages
My entire schedule is there!
Guess I'm not a DJ?!
All the best,
Scooter
Please excuse mic text blunders! Sent from my iPhone”

I am waiting on a reply from The Villages to maybe put this to rest or elucidate the situation.

There are many entertainers in the area who never get to perform on the squares while we get plenty of DJs (ugh). How about SSnakeyez on the square, or RockUs??? Much better than DJs IMHO.

Also, I'd venture to say that while most of us would and do pay to see live performances at the Sharon or Savannah Centers, not many would pay to see a DJ, so why should we pay for a DJ at the squares unless of course no other live entertainment is available?

As for line dancers...they can dance to and do dance to live music...there is no need for DJs to dance in a line!

Comments??
This may be because of the line dancers. They take up the entire dance area. Line dancers should be kept to one side and be considerate of others that like to dance as partners. It very rude to take over the entire area with line dancing.

I think it is due to the line dancers. They take over the entire area which is rude for the ones that like to dance with partners. The line dancers should not take over. There are many classes to do line dancing.

I feel sure that is a rumor! For The Villages Eterntaiment Dept. that would be like cutting off their nose to spite their face! He is the one and only DJ who brings in crowds of people, who spend tons of Money eating & drinking & shopping at the Merchants businesses at our Squares. In summertime the crowds even stay huge, what with all the grandkids here for the Camp Villages program and those that spend time with grandparents cuz they live nearby and have told Grammy and Gramps to "let them know when Scooter is here"! He pays especially great attention to all the Grandkids! He is most likely the highest quality entertainer in The Villages, and very community supportive! Don't believe everything you hear! Helen
