Scooter is one of the favorites at the square and he would be a big loss. Some DJ'S aren't very good but he is an exception. If you like fun at the Square go see him.

"""""I have watched the Line Dance crowd from time to time with mild amusement...all of them yes all..look bored, 40% stare at their feet, the others stare off in the distance like Zombies, shuffling forward , side to side, and a twirl now and then...all without making eye contact. """"

I feel the same way.....they never look like there having any fun..... but there is a exception. theres a older lady gray haired....seems she must of been a dance instructor....she is always smiling...twirling her arms and seemly giving out instructions....love her.... then theres the bottle/visor lady....shes just out there.....attracting as much attention as she can....on purpose or not? but besides those 2....the rest seem like drones....

Kinda like karaoke....when there good...there boring.....when there bad....its great....

As far as sticking to the topic I think you hatered for line dances subconscious got you off topic.
I have to smile at your comments regarding my post and could easily pick them apart, however....I don't have the energy or the patience.

I think the music programs at the 3 town squares should be a nice mixture so that there is something for EVERYONE. If a previous poster is correct and the music is being tailored for one particular group, that's not a good idea.
But, between the jammed line dancing and all the "saves seats" we rarely go anymore.

As far as I'm concerned, if they never had another DJ it would be to soon. When I bought here I was told that there was live music in the squares every night. Being a musician I thought that was great. I moved in only to find that half the time there are people playing recordings and the other half there are the same bands that I've now seen to many times.

Live music, to me, means, several musicians on stage playing together. Not someone playing recordings or doing professional karaoke.

I'm hoping that this new entertainment department does a better job than the last one and we'll see more live bands and a greater variety of music styles.

Default I prefer the live music.

DJ's are boring. When there is so much great music in the area why waste money on DJ's. I know a lot of people like to jump around to Scooter but there are a lot more of us that prefer real dancing.

The ban on DJS at the squares noes Not include Scooter. He is now the ONLY DJ permitted to entertain. Makes no sense, and certainly does not seem fair.

What is the source of this information?

I don't know of any band that keeps our residents and guests on the dance floor like Scooter. When he is at the square, the line for drinks are longer, the surrounding restaurants appear to be busier and the people appear to be having a great time. Sounds like a win win to me.

s far a line dancing, I have lived in the villages for 3 years and have never seen a conflict. As a matter of fact, a large portion of the line dances are on the dance floor during the break when the band is not playing. Is that music not a form of DJ music?

My 2 cents, if it not broke, don't fix it. As a added note, I am not a line dancer except when Scooter has us out on the dance floor making pizza. But my wife and I enjoy dancing.

If a petition was circulated to stop the petition I would sign it.

1) Line dancers are going to dance to live music, DJ's, and music played between breaks. People may, or may not have an issue with line dancers - but I don't see a connection between DJ's and line dancing.

2) DJ's can and do play a wider variety of dance music. Live musicians are limited to the number of songs they learn, and their ability to play them. There are some songs being played by live bands - that if I hear them one more time - I'm going to drive my golf cart into Lake Sumter.

3) For many live bands, you will find more people dancing during the breaks between sets when "canned" music is being played. (Line dancing or other.)

4) All types of music lovers visit the squares: Live music lovers, Dancers to the DJ's, and line dancers. There are three squares. Why not give Villagers a choice across the three every night and keep statistics?

Just curious, when did this happen??

Scooter is very popular and brings good revenue into the squares.

This statement translates into, his playing on an ongoing basis.

He's playing in the squares, four times, in the month of June.

Nuff said........
