Your original post was ‘The Villages should be it’s own city’. So you would agree that it’s impossible in totality...
for the reasons I stated in my response. Reincorporate or secession isn’t new and it’s always an effort. Wildwood is only one village of approx.18K residents and sits in one county...much easier/realistic path.

I am not going to get deep in the weeds here but have a couple of points. The new CDD representatives are initially appointed by the developer. I believe (and others will tell me if I am wrong🙂) that over a seven year period they are replaced by non-partisan elected representatives. I don’t know for sure, but would be willing to bet that there are more district representatives that are “loyalists” to the HOA. The HOA is no fan of The Villages development company.

The AAC/PWAC is similar in that the members are elected by the residents. The difference here is Spanish Springs and Lake Sumter Landing development districts have a seat on the AAC and PWAC. These two commercial areas are controlled by the developer and has a person representing them on the boards. Again, at least for the AAC, there are more board members loyal to the HOA. So, I agree with you comment about to the victor goes the spoils. But in this case the victor might actually be the HOA.

I understand we all pay an equal amount for services and amenities. Could Michael be upset that we all continue to pay, month after month, but are seeing sad results? Someone should be held accountable for the condition of the golf courses. Michael may not want to pay others for a service they are not providing. Didn't it take a lawsuit to insist Paradise Rec Center's terrible condition be corrected? Our amenity fees are not always spent wisely. Michael may have had enough.

I feel like there should be a swimming only pass because I don't use anything on that list except the pool and I never play golf never go to the rec centers and almost never go to the squares because everybody's so Snotty and in their own little clicks there's no point.

B&N? Assuming you are talking about Barnes and Noble. It’s not a local thing....they’ve closed up across the country since pandemic. Majority of their business is running college bookstores and online purchases. They had a big footprint at one time. Not worth the high rents and infrastructure. Always enjoyed spending time there and their coffee bar....

Very well said. You may not want to, or be able to, enjoy all the amenities offered here but they are made available to you. Treat The Villages as a smorgasbord: take what your diet, allergies, tastes, appetite allows….or not

Sorry. The menu here is not “ a la carte”. The Villages is more like a “Golden Corral”. (In keeping with my prior comment)
