Yes, they did. Read the last paragraph. Maybe you should take your own advice.

I suggest you get gutters all the way around.. as you can see over the last couple of days it’s a good idea to manage the rain on your property. We used Seamless Gutters and he was great!!!

These folks are the BEST gutter vendor in this entire area (and 5-star rated). Hard working, honest, friendly, and VERY competitive local family owned business. I can't recommend them enough. Plain gutters alone may not work as without the leaf-guards the gutters may plug up quickly (at least ours did) and then overflow. You have to make sure the gutters maintain their water discharge ability, or you're right back where you started from. Watkins was 1/6th as expensive as the highest other quote I received, and the Watkins quality was 5 times better than any gutter vendor we have ever used. :-) |

I couldn’t understand why no gutters were on my house when we moved in three years ago. One of the first things was called Stipes 352-390-7744 and had gutters installed all around including the lanai.

This is my 2nd attempt to post this.
8 yrs ago I had awnings installed around my lanai. That stopped the water coming in, no matter what direction the wind is blowing! And they look nicer then gutters |

If you have valley that directs water down to you’re lanai usually splash guard installed due to flood of water directed down the valley which may over flow the gutters. Even long gutters can be flooded due to not enough slope to drain water quick enough. Basically in torrential downpour things are going to get wet.

Wind allows the rain into the lanai no matter what. I only put gutters in the front because of staining on the driveway. Used M&M and they did a nice job. Awnings make the lanai dark and I would rather have the light. I like the outside, open lanai, and have plantings all the way around the house, so water off the roof is good for them. I clean up the lanai periodically, no problem and I do not use rocks. I enjoy all the birds and wildlife around the house because of my natural plantings and soil.

Stipes is very good. Save time and money, gutter your entire house if not already done. Guttering around the Lanai made a big difference for us.

One more suggestion, if you decide on gutters spend a little extra and get 6" gutters not the standard 5". The 5 " will over flow in the heavy storms

it is the wind that is the issue....the gutters will eliminate any 'splash' that may occur if the rain is falling straight down (rarely)
if you don't have any furniture out there that would be damaged by water...or you don't really use it, why bother |

Water also follows the angles of the screen supports not into the gutter........it is outdoors....it's gonna get wet!!

I’ve never thought of the awnings making my lanai dark.
I think of them as shading the lanai, and with this summer heat & sun..shading is what you might be looking for. Either way, they have served all their purposes. |
