The cart hit a parked "little red" car. At least the OP checked for damage---if it was your car and there was some damage, wouldn't you want to know who was responsible?

I don't think the Villagers here are any different from others. Sad people can't walk a few extra 100 ft to put a grocery cart up. It's not like we don't have a few extra minutes to be respectful to others. Also, need to understand a little walking is good for their health.

One of my pet peeves is people who don't return their carts to the cart racks. One time, a lady thanked me for returning a cart to the cart rack. She said her car was recently hit by a cart for a cost of $500. Of course, the person didn't wait for her or leave a note on her car.

However, my almost 92 year old mother is in a different position. Luckily, Mom is still able to drive for nearby errands but she does have trouble walking any distance. She appreciates the carts left near the handicapped spots to assist her walking into a store. The carts take the place of her walker! I know she is pretty careful where she puts the carts when she is done with then. And, if she is with me, I return the carts to the rack!

My mom rest her soul taught us that to be a person of quality that if we knocked over something from a grocery store display or shelf to pick it up. If it was an article of clothing knocked off a rack and nobody witnessed either event a decent person would pick up the item without fail. The other thing was to return the cart when finished shopping to the spot where it belongs. She said this was a good start to not being a juvenile delinquent. Many people care about their property and would like it to not be damaged by laziness, take 30 extra seconds and do the rite thing.

Your mother must have been a wonderful person...and absolutely correct as well.

`I always return carts to the cart corral because I remember the bad old days when nearly all shopping carts were bent or broken with stuck or squeaking wheels

We shop about every other day picking up the fresh things I can't get from farmers market. We have two reusable bags and don't use a cart. But always bring a cart in from the lot so the cart person has one less to round up

A car is not a person.

It could be an aggravated assault in the right circumstances. Aggravated Assault- Florida | Definition, Penalties, Defenses

Probably culpable negligence.

One time there was a cart in a space outside of TJ Max. So I walked it back into the store, as I was going that way. Once inside I realized it was from Target. Had to take it back out side. But I wasn't about to walk it all the way over to Target from TJ's, so I took the smiles and disapproving looks as I left it outside the store. Hey at least it wasn't in the lot. In my defense both carts were red.

Had a dream about a shopping cart a few nights ago. I dreamt that one was right in front of my bed and I woke up and saw that the front door was ajar and a man was pulling it shut while leaving the house. This is still the dream that I woke up in the dream. And, then I really woke up and there was no shopping cart and no man outside the front door.

The shopping cart seemed like something I might have seen fifteen years ago in Palm Harbor, Florida at one of their Publixes. The shopping cart was empty.

I frequently see shopping carts left out in various areas of the parking lot. Many of the Publixes here in the Villages have very good employees who round up the various wayward shopping carts.

That's kind of a stretch, don't you think? How about "inconsiderate" and let it go?
