The land north of 466 where the Morses and SEVERAL OTHER PROPERTY OWNERS live is not part of The Villages and never has been. Private owners of land can do whatever they wish with it, including sell it, as long as they are within the limits of its zoning and setbacks. Anyone who buys a house within The Villages (or any other development) that backs up onto land that is privately owned needs to assume that something may change in the future.

The Preserves within The Villages are clearly marked as such with small white signs along the black board fences ("Nature Preserve, No trespassing, pets, hunting, etc., etc.). If you have a black board fence behind your property that does not have these signs, you are not on a Preserve and cannot expect any future protection of the land by The Villages.

At least the properties in the parcel north of 466 are zoned Agricultural. Down in the newer areas, near 466A, people are buying houses that back up to farms and raving about their wonderful views, feed ing the horses and so forth. Much of that land is zoned Commercial and the owners are just waiting for a chance to capitalize on the growth of The Villages.

A good reminder to anyone who is considering a home or lot that backs to open land...check on the zoning or ownership of the land behind your property.

Like I said, It could be a safety issue for the post office traffic. Small golf cart trail will not hurt anything. Remember this area and all of florida could be a preserve. Remember the buffalo preserve, really just a field. Have to relax and not jump to conclusions. So its not a real problem.

Good Evening,

I really appreciate your helping us to address rumors.

There is plan (subject to District 1 finalizing in the morning) to move forward with a one way path across District property (adjacent to wetland area) to the De La Vista postal facility to allow carts to access it without going out on to Morse.

Other than that, there are no other activities taking place.

Let me know if you need anything further.

Janet
Why doesn't Janet Tutt know what's going on in Village Santiago? Does she not know or is she just not saying?

I sent another email to Janet, here is her reply to my question that I was asking about Santiago and no De Le Vista..........

Good Evening,

I knew you said Village of Santiago. I just wanted you to know what was happening just in case that is where the rumor was coming from re: the roadway. I am not aware of anything happening in Santiago. I have copied Sam in case he is aware of anything.

Have a great weekend.

Janet

-----------------------------------
The Sam mentioned is Sam Wartinbee with District Property Management.
I think the original poster should provide more information to her claim, street, area, etc.

How would I or anyone else be able to answer your questions? Maybe you could email and ask her. Your implication in your questions seems very unfair to me.

I have found Janet to be very responsive to any question I have asked. She is held in high regard in the way she performs the role of District Manager. And has been complimented by both the POA & HOA in their newsletters.

I hold Janet Tutt in the highest regard. She has been extremely helpful to our family and friends when all else failed. She attends all of the POA meetings as well.

In 2007, We almost bought a home backing on "horse fields", and highly recommended by the agent for privacy. We drove to the street where the horse farm had frontage, and it had a huge For Sale sign. Buyers Beware!

I bought property last January on a "lake" (Well, Bill would call it a retention pond ). Anyway, my sales rep made it exceedingly clear that TV did not own the property on the other side of the lake...........which is now a farm. I signed all kinds of paperwork acknowledging the fact that I understood that TV did not own that property.

Surprisingly......and much to my delight, TV added many lovely trees on the other side of the lake which will eventually obstruct the view of whatever will be built over there. They also added some lovely greenery on our side of the lake. Very classy!

They didn't have to do that.....all the lots had been sold....yes...all the lots were sold! But I was really happy about it. I guess that Morse family likes to have their properties look "top shelf". Yes, TV is TOP SHELF!!!

Here is a link to a house in that area that is for sale. The write-up mentions that it is on an Owl Preserve, and the map shows exactly where she is talking about - hope that helps to clarify the area in question.

Post #48 mentions small white signs on the black rail fence that states "property is a preserve and no trespassing", etc. Could be wrong but in all the views towards the field from the house for sale in prior post didn't see any such signs. jmho but kinda throws doubt onto the area being a preserve even though map might indicate same. Could be Ag/Comm. property. As I said jmho.......don't have a dog in this fight.

I agree, I looked for signs on the fence but I didn't see any. However, there was a picture of a burrowing tortoise, which is a federally protected species. Who knows?
