Do not want to be contrary or contentious, but I'm trying to follow this line of thinking. Since there is a "pandemic", "social distancing" is much "healthier" (??) than "renting rooms to non family". There fore (I guess) the "logic" is social distancing is not needed with family because...... ? Because family members can not bring or carry virus into a space, no that can't be it. Think maybe another answer on here is more fact based; renting a room could be considered sub-letting.

Anyway, to repeat, not being contentious, but I am amazed and actually interested (even though retired) in HOW people "think and reason". Seems posts these days always lead back to emotionally based elements ? It's interesting, and enlightening actually, to read not just the opinions, but the what people base their opinions on. I've noticed a trend (a result of the virus ?) toward fear that I have never noticed in past years when it was flu season. Maybe if they'd get some music going on the squares, peoples' outlooks would soar ?
I am trying to follow your line of reasoning. If people will not allow or welcome their own family from away to come and visit them now during this time because they are afraid of catching the virus, it isn't likely they will want a roomer coming in and out, particularly one that is coming in and out from a health facility.

Usually reference to a newspaper is the daily sun. There is a previous post #28 here that does have a rental with a number to call.

Default Searching for Room for Rent

Hello. I'm looking for a room to rent by end of September preferably in the Wildwood or Lady Lake, FL areas. I'm a male in my mid-20's and also a healthcare professional. I'm not like most males my age as I'm very friendly, outgoing, and clean. No criminal background. I have over 3 years of housekeeping experience so your house would be kept in good shape. All I ask is I have access to a private bedroom, private bathroom, shared use of kitchen, laundry, and mailbox, and a parking space. Open to any suggestions and please comment your phone number and address with serious inquiries if interested. Thanks!

This is a senior community, why would you want to rent a room here rather than in a town that would have others your age????? I for one would never trust a stranger living in my home but I'm sure there are those that will gamble their lives for a few bucks.

There is another recent thread about this and apparently homeowners here cannot rent to outsiders.

Also why not live amongst others your age?

Believe it or not every year Med students, and Residents are sent to TV for clinicals. Usually for less than a year. Some retired medical people host because they have been there themselves.

We offered our home to a post grad oncology physician, while she Came to access if TV would be a good fit.

Yep shame on her for being under 55 and coming here to take care of old people with cancer.

Not true 95% of renters are from outside of TV

Here's a suggestion, post this in the real estate section and also buy a Daily Sun paper as there are rooms for rent in the classifieds or try AB&B which would be the most obvious route to take. Running an ad like this in this community is at least very questionable if not weird.

The OP is looking for a room not an entire house.

I would bet that you didn't find an ad on TOTV posted by your oncology physician, those individuals are usually guided in the right direction by others they will be working with. Your assumption is that this individual is a med student or resident physician. On the other end of the spectrum practical nurses, some of whom but not all steal from nursing home residents are also medical professionals. So again, be very cautions in answering these types of ads. It would be very easy for this individual to find a room to rent in a community such as Leesburg where there would be a more diverse population.

Poster is asking for advice...I am happy to help out, after all even some residents here can be not on the up and up, plus if you have a rental do you really know what you are getting into.

The post grad posted on the board in oncology, plus yes she posted on TOTV, UF and VA gave her the TOTVs website. She found the community with good and but more negative than other places.

Our oldest and his wife both Doctors (mid thirties) came 5 years ago, to feel out the community to see if this would be where they would work, and live next, and retire when it came time. Didn’t mention they were doctors.

Took 3 days of TV some residents telling them they did not belong here, bringing their uncontrolled brats, and you can’t live here because of their age.. Yes there were some positive but not enough to move here. They also went to 2 other retirement communities, both community residents were receptive, and offering help as to what section had a home they would need. ( handicap accessible) They Chose NC.

TV was really the better fit for them, but not worth trouble. We have here since 07, sometimes this is not the most friendliest.

That is very sad to hear, but they couldn't live in The Villages with children under 19. Did someone call their children "uncontrolled brats"? REALLY??? Wow. What were the kids doing??? I am shocked.

you very likely would place a homeowner in The Villages in an awkward position if they rented a room to you in their home....neighbors very well might see this as a deed restriction and drop a dime on them that it's violation

suggest that you contact the healthcare organization that you will be joining and ask them for recommendations on lodgings
