I agree. Yes I do. I could add to it but I won't. A certain percentage of pot stirring posts do keep us reading...………..especially when we get a major down turn in views when the snowbirds go home.

Default Sports

It’s past time to opens outdoor sports. They are encouraging everyone to eat, teach etc outdoors, so why restrict sports. Most like tennis, pickle ball are self distancing in there setup. Also sun, heat and humidity are the enemy of virus and lack of exercise is the enemy of old folks. So let’s get going and and those who are worried do not have to participate. Lack of exercise is killing us right now!

So tired of the "can't fix stupid" phrase and calling others "selfish" comments. Having a different opinion does not make another stupid or selfish. Sad that even as adults, seniors even, people don't know how to converse respectfully without the verbal attacks.

Default Consequences

I want to do what I want to do period. That’s a typical human response. So, why not drive when we’re drunk. I think the word is consequences. If you hurt or kill someone you face the consequences. Hey I enjoy it. If you’re asymptomatic and you play softball and perspire and those little sweat drops infect and kill someone else you face no consequences. So, no consequences no problem. If one of your family members succumbed to someone else’s selfish attitude and you knew who that person was, would you simply say, hey they had the right to do what they wanted. I think not. 60,000 people are dead and guess what, no one did it. As the Shaggy song goes, “It wasn’t me”. But someone did do it, they didn’t get it from themselves. If a person’s DNA was transferred with the virus and it could be traced back to the person who transmitted it then we be singing a different tune. Hey I might lose my softball glove in a lawsuit or even my freedom so maybe I can give up softball for a little while longer. Don’t misunderstand me, I go out shopping. I wear a mask and I take my own wipes. If I get the virus at least I’ll know that I did my best to avoid it and if I should have it at least I'm not going to give it to someone else. What I don’t appreciate is people with carefree attitudes shopping without a mask, passing by me within a foot or two and sneezing and coughing. Again, why should they care, there’s no consequences.

I agree in part, with the OP.
However, I'm also getting very sick and tired of being judged for going out and getting on with my life. I get dirty looks, rude comments and more when I go to the store because I'm not wearing a mask. I do not wear this garb because I already had covid and have had an FDA approved antibody test showing that I have the antibodies.
Before you judge people, think about what you DON'T know about them. Maybe if everyone just worried about themselves, we'd have a more harmonious community.
When I see people out and about without face covering, I'm beginning to believe they have had Covid-19 and have developed antibodies.

I'm waiting for the T-shirt that says on the front and back, "I've had Covid-19 and can NOT infect you".

Then why are recovered Covid patients being asked to donate their blood for their antibody rich plasma? Transfusing antibody rich plasma has been used in treating Covid-19.

The virus cannot be eradicated, only managed; the purpose of the lock down was to flatten the curve, less than 100 cases in a community of 100,000+ seems pretty flat.

The FDA is not aware of an antibody test that has been validated for diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 infection. While the FDA remains open to receiving submissions for these tests for such uses, based on the underlying scientific principles of antibody tests, the FDA does not expect that an antibody test can be shown to definitively diagnose or exclude SARS-CoV-2 infection.

I'm sure you realized when you posted this that all the old, terrified, entitled 'me first' Villagers would have a fit.

As for those of you who wish to condemn my attitude as reckless I say MYOB. I support your attitude 1000% and I also support those who wish to stay at home to, supposedly, decrease their risk. But, allowing politicians to destroy our freedoms, regardless of their intent, is accepting tyranny.

At the beginning of this, yes, I would have said and did say such an attitude as yours could get us all killed! However, much has happened since, not the least of which is the observation that Covid-19 is not the scourge we all thought, including the experts, it was! Knowledge is power! To further muddy the waters the WHO who once backed China’s propaganda now says the Swedish approach, social distancing when possible, but keeping the economy fully open has their endorsement ! We’re we all hoodwinked? Was this a way for China w the help of the WHO to effectively destroy the economies of other countries because their own suffered? Leveling the playing field , so to speak? Regardless I have changed my tune in that we need to open things back up and I think being overly cautious is not necessarily the way to go. Social distancing where possible & masks when not possible to social distance & effective hand washing should be the limit of our restrictions. When all was said & done the numbers for Sweden who kept their economy running were statistically no different than ours & other countries who followed the US. So other than the real fear( at the time) that our healthcare system would be overwhelmed, none of the other fears came to be! What does that tell us? That our practices of social distancing has worked & in all probability will continue to work with us going about our usual & customary lives. It does require that masks & gloves be readily accessible to ALL! It is still a chore to secure these items! At the same time that we are willing to take our own “risks “ it is important that we do not choose to sue over every & any case of contracted Covid ( sorry for lawyers already foaming at the mouth over anticipated litigations) . I have done an almost 180 & my science/disease education & background tells me it’s time to start living again! My only request for those who want to act as if nothing’s happened, it to simply be more respectful of the people around you. Other than that, let’s start living again as a free thinking, socially responsible & life loving people.

Has anyone seen the pool chairs 6 ft. apart even though couples live together they cannot sit together at a pool. Softball players are spread out over the field. We don't get any closer than the clerk at the store. When the team is batting, three players are waiting outside the dugout to bat, two others are coaching first and third base leaving seven in the dugout. So spread them out behind the screen and play ball!!! All of these opening decisions are arbitrary anyway and if you are concerned don't play! I have seen serious violations of the 6 ft rule with 20 golfers congregating while waiting to tee off. Come on folks use common sense and get back to life.
