I’m not sure what’s more dangerous, herd immunity or herd mentality. Now that we’ve all decided our own comfort level, maybe we can lower the volume-it will reduce our collective stress and boost our collective health quotient.

As for me, I'll take my chances out in the fresh air with others who enjoy playing senior softball. Yes I'll be taking a risk, but it needs to be my choice. As for those of you who wish to condemn my attitude as reckless I say MYOB. I know there will be many who will say this is selfish, I say it's more selfish to sit comfortably at home while Millions of young families struggle without work, without money, without hope.

Forgive my ignorance but I have been liberal about the precautions that were dictated. I do respect others and try my best to maintain social distances. It does annoy me at times when I see people scurrying away from those that did not wear a mask even though they were maintaining a social distance. Sorry but if you are that paranoid then you should stay at home and have everything delivered. I do believe that from the very first they should have required masks. Mandating it now seems a little late. My questions is if we all wear masks in public and the numbers go down, what will happens when we take the masks off. I believe wave two will begins and we will be back to square one if no vaccine is available then. So unless we start to begin some minor herd immunity I fear we will be wearing a masks for months until the vaccine is available. How true it is I don't know but they say they have found some medications that do help treat the patient. I do not want to get this and die but I am tired of all the restrictions in place.

Good thought. And you can already tell who has an "R" on their backs because they are the ones NOT wearing masks and gloves.

I agree in part, with the OP.
However, I'm also getting very sick and tired of being judged for going out and getting on with my life. I get dirty looks, rude comments and more when I go to the store because I'm not wearing a mask. I do not wear this garb because I already had covid and have had an FDA approved antibody test showing that I have the antibodies.
Before you judge people, think about what you DON'T know about them. Maybe if everyone just worried about themselves, we'd have a more harmonious community.
So true.
Ever hear the saying “birds of a feather flock together”?
Evidently the Villages has 2 different flocks and they are really fighting over territory.
Theses are the 3 great lies that are stuck in my head
1) it’s a hoax
2) The risk to the American people is LOW. ( NO ONE says that anymore)
3) only 60,000 people will die but the END of August.

If one of your family members succumbed to someone else’s selfish attitude and you knew who that person was, would you simply say, hey they had the right to do what they wanted. I think not. 60,000 people are dead and guess what, no one did it. As the Shaggy song goes, “It wasn’t me”. But someone did do it, they didn’t get it from themselves. If a person’s DNA was transferred with the virus and it could be traced back to the person who transmitted it then we be singing a different tune. Hey I might lose my softball glove in a lawsuit or even my freedom so maybe I can give up softball for a little while longer. Don’t misunderstand me, I go out shopping. I wear a mask and I take my own wipes. If I get the virus at least I’ll know that I did my best to avoid it and if I should have it at least I'm not going to give it to someone else. What I don’t appreciate is people with carefree attitudes shopping without a mask, passing by me within a foot or two and sneezing and coughing. Again, why should they care, there’s no consequences.
Well written, good logic.

I have been playing golf throughout this stay at home order, but I am trying to do it safely with the least risk. I stay at least 10 feet away from others, use hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes and keep the windscreen up. In grocery stores I wear a mask and try to stay away from others (much harder than the golf course).

We do need to open the economy for those who are unemployed. There is true suffering. And we all need to be personally responsible for our own actions and choices. I am fine with things opening up, but I will choose what I want to participate in and I will wear a mask indoors to protect others. I will not be going to the pools or restaurants for a while. Just my choice on what I am willing to do. I am fine with others wanting to eat out or go to the pools. Be respectful of others and do what you are comfortable doing.

This is an intentionally provocative post. The inclusion of "liberal talking heads" makes it too political to be allowed. I thought there were rules?

There are rules for calling a person childish, stupid, selfish, self centered. Telling them to grow up, etc. All done in this thread so don't get your panties in a wad over "liberal talking heads".
