I bet that the people who don't obey traffic laws in TV didn't obey traffic laws from whence they came.

You don't need to take people's money. Just having the police at the corner will have people stop at the sign. Police presence is always a deterrent. It is just down right thievery. IMHO

Unless they see others doing it, and figure what the heck?

This. It bothers me to see people just shooting through stop signs. Except when I'm at the corner, and there's no one around, I mean what am I stopping FOR, exactly? What is there, that necessitates a stop? If a stopsign is at a corner and no one is there to see it, does it make a sound?

DOES IT?

Yup...that's about how I stop at stop signs. I better take a better inventory of myself. With the snowbirds starting to come down, it WILL get more dangerous.

Red lights too? (ooof....all clear.....let's go)

How about school zones? (no kids present.....no need to slow down.)

Don't have to reduce speed in work zones....don't see the workers.

Speed limits is 35........no other cars here......okay to do 60.

Double solid line in the middle of the road.........Okay, nobody's coming go ahead and pass.

Handicapped parking spot.....don't seen anybody who's handicapped....park here.

Do not block fire department entrance......I don't see any smoke...what's the big deal if I park here?

ONE WAY? I'm only going ONE WAY..officer, get off my case.

Honey look down the track and see if you can see any trains coming while I drive around these stupid gates.

So what if I don't have any bake lights, the guy behind me isn't suppose to be following so close....arrest his ass.

I agree, if at any given moment, you survey the situation of a traffic control device and determine that your observation is better than the law, you can go ahead and proceed.

I think all, or at least 99.9% of us disobey some traffic laws on a regular basis. Turning right on red without stopping, rolling through stop signs, going a few mph over the speed limit, etc. I know I am guilty of this and a few more at times. I have been ticketed a few times in my life, and I have never had a right to complain about the ticket because I was doing exactly what I was ticketed for. When we violate the traffic laws we do so with the understanding that we may have to pay a penalty if caught. If we don't have that understanding, we have a problem. No one should consider themselves above any law, no matter how much we dislike that law.

It's our choice. I certainly won't accuse the police of doing wrong when they have ticketed me for doing wrong. That attitude makes me think of my younger brother who was caught breaking in to a house many years ago. He blamed the police for following him around everywhere he went. No one wants to take responsibility for their actions anymore. It's always the fault of someone else.
