Default Sumter County Animal Control

Anyone have experience with SCAC stopping dog walking without a leash, stopping dog walking between houses out of sight of owner and leaving deposits??

Another angle might be a complaint with your district. I believe complaints are anonymous and you probably know the perp?

Does Sumter county have leash law? If so call LEO if caught in act with video of course.

Nor in their jurisdiction, according to them.

Put a camera over there and post the video. Maybe you will recognize the offender/ offenders

In District 13, we have a dog owner who doesn’t live in TV who lets two large dogs roam at large quite regularly - one of which has been observed to be aggressive to humans and dogs. Sumter does have a leash law. It has taken 6 months of working with SCAS almost weekly and two hearings in front of Code Enforcement to have fines levied against this owner. The dogs still on occasion run at large. SCAS is sorely understaffed, and Code Enforcement seems biased toward the dog owner and not the complainants. It’s been beyond frustrating to try to get these dogs contained.

I dealt with the exact situation just a couple years ago. Maybe you live on Palo Alto too. When I asked the neighbor kindly not to do so, she laughed and said what’s the big deal and walked away. Sumter County Animal Control nor the local police were of any help. We clean up after our own tiny dog because we don’t want to step on poop on our lawn, but yet we would find her big dogs deposits throughout our lawn. She would do this at night and on occasion scared the hell out of us because we were bringing out the garbage and weren’t expecting anyone coming between the houses. She denied it all. So, it took me putting up cameras and bringing proof to her husband to have it stop. BTW… when I mentioned to the police that perhaps I should hide behind a bush and hose her down. They said “well then we’d have to arrest you”. Go figure… Good luck!

no figure out which sprinkler setting you have to manually turn on to " hose" her down. Also, if you have a video of them trespassing on your property get the police involved. They will very quickly get annoyed with the offender especially if other neighbors also call
