Got a renewal notice that was raised 50%. Switched to triple A and premium was less than previous progressive and auto was cheaper too. Evidently, Flo and her crew have been asking for and getting more money. Time to find someone with cheaper commercials.

Hmmm ...I believe in climate change. We know we can not control. What we can control is what we are putting into the environment. That is something we can control.

Eventually, all the insurance will probably move out of Florida.

As far as home insurance goes, last summer Florida set an all time record for HEAT in the Gulf and on land. The next 5 to 8 years are expected to be hotter in the summer. The insurance companies know this and it makes sense that they want to leave Florida for a less climate volatile state. .....Maybe we should also? |

........The insurance companies are aware of that and that is why they want to leave Florida. If Florida was the same as 20 years ago, why would insurance companies leave such a BIG market. ......Also, South America is heating up and farmers can not farm. So, they are moving north into the US. More people means more HEAT problems for Florida. It is all interconnected and related to Global Warming. Pretending that it is NOT happening will NOT make it go away! |

This will be our third year with Progressive. Premium only went up $8. Seems none of it is consistent from one company to the next or one person to the next.

We scream our homes are worth so much more than we paid for them. That is only part f the story. Repairs and replacement cost have also gone up. You can choose to pay less by increasing the policy deductible. You self insure up to whatever the deductible is. Not shop? I do not claim to be an insurance expert. My mother used to work in a small i insurance brokerage. Some think you stay with the company and build loyalty to you. That is simply not so. The best rates are offered to new customers. They know they need new customers to replace old ones and they know new customers are shopping for value. Claims? Years ago we had a neighbor, a retired cop, who did insurance investigations. It was amusing to hear what people have pulled and gotten caught doing. Like most things, I now wonder how many just had their claims denied and how many had criminal charges filed. Far as insurance most things including auto insurance you can choose to self insure. You are paying a company a fee to share or cover all of your risk. In the villages we had tornadoes roughly 12 years ago. We were not here and our house was not even built Imagine the losses to home owners and to insurance companies. Imagine trying to find quality repairs. |

Few do, and the companies know it is true, read the policy and be sure you understand it. Damages. Typically there is a higher deductible for hurricane damage. Sinkhole insurance? You may not be covered for sinkholes. |

The population of the US was 180million in 1950. Today it is 350 million-doubled. The population of Florida has exploded. A major reason is air conditioning. Your/our AC eats energy. Interesting REALITY. Roughly 60 years ago climate cooling was noticed. Ice caps were growing etc. Lacking was Al Gore to turn it into a panic. He SCREAMS we should. He buys a huge home and burns tons of fuel to ell us we should while he gets rich. |

According to the Google Machine, the average cost of insurance on a $250K home in FL is $1968/year... Over all, in the entire state, FL averages $4200/year... 15 states have higher rates for a similarly priced home... FL auto insurance rates are on par with NY, NV, LA, w/MI just a few hundred$$$ lower |
