Talked with a construction worker
Was visiting a friend over near cr 466 and rolling acres road. I noticed they were constructing a path on the south side of 466. I spoke with one of the workers he confirmed it was a golf cart path but was unsure of how they were going to connect it.
I am betting that they'll take all the way down to Morse. That will be nice for both myself, friend, and the environment since everything on that side will be golf cart accessible. I am still wondering what kind of business's they are gonna put in across from those apartments that were built last summer. Its amazing how the villages are building nearly 300 houses a month in this economy. But as many say Villagers have "old money". |

It isn't so amazing!!!
all there are 90+% still gainfully employed.....93% are still paying their mortgage every month....retirees have a finite resource....a somewhat finite horizon of life expectancy.
There are more businesses other than just TV doing well, there is just no reason for the media or politicians to make anybody aware of the good things...eh? Not in their best fear mongering interest. The Villages monthly build and close rate so far for 2009 is up over 2008 rates. Their resales have seen a significant increase in sales in 2009. Yup things are slow in TV....or I meant slower....still doing very well but not at the gang busters rate of a couple of years ago. Of course nothing of interest to the media in this kind of story. Housing values decline 17%....big deal. That only means they have assumed a normal level VS the go-go bubble. How many have the 17% decline but are still worth more than what they paid? Now why woulod anybody want to know that? A reality politicians and the media certainly do not want to address. Dontya know you are being managed? manipulated? frightened? Anyway.....those of us in the majority are enjoying life as per normal...aren't you? BTK |

obviously the media has their own interests. I'm lucky, I have lost no money in stocks have budgeted well over the years. Not saying our economy going downhill is a good thing but at least Im paying less for certain items.
But what about all of this construction has anyone else get a better scoop? |

All in all, I question the validity of this rumor. I especially cannot see TV funding or even supporting it. There is conflict between TV and Lady Lake re non-TVers having golf cart access to the campus, highlighted at the Rolling Road crossing close to 27/441. But regardless of Lady Lake's desires, there are still state laws about golf carts being on or crossing highways. '`

It will be interesting to see how this cart path works out. Unless they build one from Cherry Lake Rd (CR-100) to The Villages then no way for carts to get in. Seems there would be the issue of minors flying down that path thus a legal matter for insurance and if someone gets hurts. I know the kids in Parkwood were using the sidewalk to drive carts from Parkwood into Bison Valley then use the golf cart access to The Villages. But I think SCSO is watching that. Cant drive on the sidewalk.

Hasn't stopped many a Villager. I see carts on sidewalks every day and on roads that they aren't allowed on at least once a week. And it is rarely a minor.

It will be very interesting to see how this golf cart path thingy works out.
I remember when Freedom Pointe was first proposed, and they were advertising that residents had full TV amenities, what a hoo-haa that raised. As it turns out, residents of Freedom Pointe will have full access (including golf cart) to all TV facilities - they were "sold" to them. And they are "officially" not a part of TV! The next big concern was "If they can sell access to our amenities to Freedom Pointe, who else can they sell it to?" When will they announce that all residents of Parkwood can have access to all TV facilities? How about Recreation Plantation? Bend over and hold on tight to the south side of your north bound mule because you know it's coming - sooner or later. As far as Rolling Acres Road being a "stop" for the golf cart path going south (or is that east?), that is true today. At 27/441, TV access via golf cart south of Target/Circuit City/etc (I forget the name of the shopping center) is blocked by Rolling Acres Road. The Lady Lake Police to patrol and ticket golf carts that cross Rolling Acres Road on a fairly regular basis. This is not the "know all - end all" though. Exceptions can be applied for and made. Already golf cart exceptions are in place within TV that allow golf carts to cross roads similar to Rolling Acres Road. For example, crossing El Camino Real at the traffic light at Botello (Village of Alhambra)/Enrique (Village of Santiago) is allowed. As far as I know there are no approved "exceptions" for golf carts to cross 27/441 (yet!). It is interesting that all the "approved exceptions" that I know of are at places where you can cross a busy street (such as El Camino Real) from one developer developed property to another developer developed property. However I know of no approved exceptions where you go from a developer developed property (i.e. TV) to a non-developer developed property such as to the Home Depot/Sams complex or the complex where the Longhorn Steak House/Bed, Bath & Beyond is located. Someone has some political pull to get those exceptions they want approved and those they don't want disapproved! But that probably will not last forever. |

Another exception is on route 472 from the entrance to
Bridgeport at Lake Miona Shores they had to get the speed limit reduced to 35 mph which they did. Put up the appropriate signage and road striping...to be able to cross 472 to get into Ashland to access the cart path system.
If it is to the developer of TV advantage (which ultimately is to the benefit of residents....most of the time!!!) it will be done.?! BTK |

I posed this question before but I will ask it again. What happens if I am hit by a 14 year old driving an uninsured golf cart(and I'm sure there are many of those around)on a public roadway?Do I go after the state, the county or the developer whose rules allowed them to operate the cart? This may sound far fetched but as our community grows and we have to provide access to all it is a possibility.

The owner of the cart that allowed the 14 year old to operate the cart and/or the 14 year olds parents.

Yep that is what I would think. The parents of the 14 yr old are still reponsible just like driving a car. Underage.. I cant believe that The Villages have anything to do with that cart path.
