If the kid's parents have any property, you might collect something after a long, expensive and risky lawsuit process. My sister lives in Poinciana near Kissimmee, and in December her vehicle was struck and flipped over by a speeding 17 year old, no license, no insurance, and the car belonged to a friend of his, also not insured. She got squat out of the deal. Not only that, but when the insurance company totaled her car, she got a notice from her bank that she needed to pay the loan balance within ten days. She wasn't even reimbursed for the $500 she spent on a rental car. The kid and car owner never even got a ticket. Bottom line is, don't be involved in any kind of traffic accident in Florida. In NY, both the kid and the car owner would have been in court explaining themselves . . . and might even have spent a night or two in jail . . . but apparently not in Florida.

Bargee, I'm guessing your legal counsel would advise you to sue everyone, the owner, the developer, the town, the state, the county.
Having had a little experience up north with a "slip and fall" on my property there, the person who fell sued me and the city. I was amazed at the process. Ultimately, it was a frivolous claim, but the city actually settled with them for a few thousand dollars. My insurance company fought. Went to a civil trial by jury, and they found for me, so the person who fell got (deservedly) nothing from me.

I think your counsel would advise casting as wide a net as possible to maximize your chances of getting any compensation.

I moved all SEPP mutual fund stocks to bonds and the money market 2.5 years ago with the instance of our financial planner just before we moved here from CT. I fought him tooth and nail but finally relented. Wow, I am happy now!!! So technically, I haven't lost any money from stocks. The bond fund has remained stable. I have drawn some funds from the money market for capital improvements to our home. On the other hand, my wife's 401K is now a 201K. We don't think it will come back in our lifetime.

So, for the years before that, you never lost any money on stocks, either? Seems unrealistic to me. You mean you were only involved for a little bit before this 2.5 year ago movement of them? If this is so, congratulations. I myself, have lost, but am still a good deal ahead of where I was ten years ago. Ups and downs are just something one has to deal with in this game. And, don't know how old you all are, but I do think these 401k's will be back to where they were, in 5 years or so.

I made about 14% a year a couple years ago on my combined stock/bond holdings. If I had not been in stocks, obviously the return would have been much much less. I sold a bunch of mutual funds last year, but did hang on to some. If the market comes back, so will the funds.

just drove by and they have already laid pavement for the path. But still no indication of where its going to connect to other paths. It actually seems like a dangerous path with all the telephone poles and what not. The way people drive down here could pose some problems.

Have you driven by it lately? Its as wide as some of the newer paths and it would make sense to make one there. That whole side past Morse will eventually become a place for businesses. T

hey have already built a medical plaza and commercial business suites across from those new apartments. Also their is the VFW and that driving range on rolling acres rd. with a golf course not too far away. Plus one of the guys working on the path told me it was a golf car path. But you can take that for whatever its worth. The guy could of been a crackhead carrying a shovel.

Hey gang...I drive this road daily on the way home. This is either a very, very wide side walk or a golf cart path.

There are MANY new commercial build outs on 466 and family housing complexes....however not Villages housing. I understand that a new plant nursery will be going in there as well....they posted something on here...perhaps they know the details!

I am anxious to see what happens with it! Very interesting!!

THey are suppose to be building the The Lady Lake Assisted Living right across from Srping Arbor. That still dont answer why a cart path. Cant see The Villages letting them connect somehow. They would have to put in a cart path from Cherry Lake Road CR-100 down to Morse some how. See what happens

I may be wrong, but looking at the Lake County GIS map, it doesn't appear that The Villages even owns that property. If not, why would they put in a cart path? If it is a cart path, I don't think The Villages is building it. But... we'll find out eventually.
