Perhaps we should start up an SLM movement and print up some t shirts and lawn signs.

I’m not following the lifespan thing, my remark was in response to the nasty perception of snowbirds stated by a poster which was in poor taste.

I have 6 snowbird residences within eye site from my house, I look forward to their return.
Some posts on this thread are hurtful and really don’t make any damn sense.

Everything is relative.
Today's slow season volume/population was the busy season volume/population not that many years ago....and again going forward and again going forward, etc. __________________________________________________ ![]() |

Our street is half snowbirds and the block is way too quiet when they are gone

Too hot here, snowbirds need to wait another 3 months before coming down.
Please. |

Haven't we beat the sweater/sweatshirt/sweetheart thing to death long enough? Stop already!

It will be nice to see the Snowbirds homes with cut grass. As it is many of you will be returning to lawns that the chinch bugs ravished. Many of your homes need better care.

The contributions in TOTV from the anti-snowbird types are as predictable as the seasons. Sept. Oct. is the start, rising to a crescendo around the end of December, then slowly petering out on towards spring. But I doubt that their numbers are really anything more than minuscule. A few disgruntled people can make a lot of noise. Sure, it gets more crowded here than in the summer. Sure, there are snowbirds who don't really understand the rules of golf cart usage. And yes. Tee times can become complicated. But that is minor, really. For my part I enjoy golfing during high snowbird season because of all the interesting people you meet. A farmer and his wife from Iowa...a Canadian couple this past March who were not shy about sharing their disgust with how things are run up there in The Great North...a 96-year-old guy who still swung a mean club and who got a hole-in-one during our round (it WAS El Santiago, but still impressive)...several people from Baaaaaahston who were the exact opposite of what we were told to expect from New Englanders...some people from UPSTATE New York (why do they always add UPSTATE when identifying where they come from?)...and so on. Overwhelmingly good people. A couple of toads too, but you'll find toads here pretty much year round. Snowbirds give a lift and an added positive dimension to TV that just isn't there in the summer. |

What snowbirds don’t have a lawn and pest service. If they didn’t the lawn would be more than a foot high. Our neighborhood has about 50% snowbirds, all of their lawns look as good if not better than the full timers. We did have a newly widowed lady, that had never paid a bill on her own. She let her lawn guy lapse, but until it was straightened out , her neighbor mowed the lawn for her. Let face it, the lawns are so small here it’s under 20 minutes or less to mow

After two lifestyle visits, my wife and I (and mini schnauzer) will be renting Jan-Mar somewhere in Collier. Looking forward to it, but reading some of the threads, it seems like renters and snowbirds are not welcome by some.
