State: We can blame China and India, but then we'd have to admit spending trillions on our own will do nothing, scratch that idea Transportation: We sell the idea that SUVs are the source of all evil and spend billions subsidizing EVs, even though it won't make a difference "sure it makes a difference, it enriches our benefactors who will make a fortune off that idea---go with it" Defense: This is all BS, count us out. "Oh, no, don't even think about speaking truth to power" Commerce: We can have our puppet NWS issue "heat warnings", even though this summer is 2.63 degrees cooler than summer 2022 "great idea! Then we can have the puppet media call "weather alert days" and put heat indices rather than actual temperatures on their forecast map. The weak minded lemmings will actual believe it, after all, the bigger the lie, the more will believe it" |

Too hot? Well, it is 5:00 PM now and I just returned from playing 18 holes of golf--walking, not riding in a cart--at about 3:45. Maybe it is "too hot" for folks who let media control their lives. That ain't me. Plenty of water and taking my time--I could play all day. Maybe tomorrow I will.
Ain't goin' back.[/QUOTE] I was with you all the way until the 'media control' part. I assure you that not one single news clip has ever made me sweat profusely, and my anectodal conclusion remains that this year is a helluva lot hotter and more humid than last year, without the relief of rain there seemed to be last year. And before someone confuses this issue with meteorological facts or fiction, I used the word 'anecdotal' for a reason. For all I know it will snow next summer-but for now-I am talking about the heat, not about the news reports I may or may not have seen about the heat. And as for walking 18 holes? I play a lot of championship golf and will occasionally walk 9-but walking 18 in this humidity is inviting problems. Great for you if you can do that and not wobble afterward. If anyone ever goes on a desert safari, you should be the first person they call-but the rest of us older adults are best suited to driving the golf car on the course, or staying home.As the Bee Gees have indicated repeatedly, it's all about 'Stayin Alive' |

I agree with Bitsee. We left Ohio to come to Florida 18 years ago and have lived to TV ever since. I’ve had my fill of these brutal summers and am ready to move back north, where our daughter and grandkids live. Better restaurants up there, and more cultural activities, good bookstores, etc. I don’t like Christmas in Florida, either, and don’t mind snow, now that I don’t have to drive to work in it ☺️. Can always get someone to shovel it.

Really, that is crazy, I have been here since 07 and this is by far the worst summer since I came. If I could I would leave this pathetic state, one that gets worse every year.

We are preparing to return to NH and family. We have an apartment attached to our children's home and we are ready. We have been here since 2008 and for the most part have had a wonderful time, but age and ill health has become a problem. The Village hospital almost managed to kill my husband, but not quite, they left him handicapped so if we stayed here we we would probably have to move to assisted living and that is not going to happen. $6,000 to $8,000 a month to have someone who does not even know you take care of you in your final years, no way. That money goes to my kids.
We have no regrets, love NH and we live in a beautiful area on the outskirts of a historic city. We have access to superb healthcare and only an hour from the major hospitals in Boston. Real restaurants, Market Basket, good shopping. Easy access to the coast. It is not a difficult decision. I don't think we ever intended to die in TV. Oh, by the way, no snow shoveling, people do that for you if you pay them. |

Not a fan of Florida summers, both the summer and winter season traffic is getting worse every year from all of the non-Villages homes going up as well as the growth in the south, and am seriously considering moving back north to be with family, less traffic and crowds, and better health care. Not worried about snow, there are plenty of snow removal services up north just as there are year round landscape services down here. I do like the seasons especially fall and still have a lot of family up there, some very young and some very old so lots of things are going to happen over the next few years that will require lots of round trips that I am getting to old to partake in..
