Almost as good as spending tens of thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours of police time to find golf carts going 20.1 mph?????

Also, I doubt that those *****s that want police out to catch speeding golf carts have never exceeded 19.9.

In my opinion, the speed traps are needed because we see a lot of cars exceeding the speed limit of 30 mph.

We go down there a lot because we like the MickeyLee golf course, the putting course, and the beautiful walking/biking trails in Lake Denham. A lot of cars and golf carts coming out of Citrus Grove seem to have a hard time pulling out onto Meggison because the traffic is so heavy and goes so fast.

A few weeks ago, I read that someone got t-boned pulling out of Citrus Grove.

WOW! Over react much? Nothing was said or implied about not doing any of the other things the police normally do as part of their job. Are you concerned that you might get caught? This is just another tool for them to use for the benefit of us all ... or, at least, the law abiding among us.

Your claim is based on what evidence? Just another exaggeration/complaint. If you spend any time on the cart baths south of 44, you will see a vast majority of golf carts and bikers totally ignoring stop signs. And most don't even bother to look around when crossing. Maybe patrolling will prevent an unnecessary injury or death.

Crime fighting needs to be a top priority. The addition of golf carts to assist in crime fighting in the Villages is welcome.

Five years from now, we will have TV shows like NCIS The Villages and SWAT Villages style. Maybe even Villages 5-O!

I can't be caught since my golf cart is set to 20. (translation: law abiding). However, I don't believe that a golf cart going 20 is the safest invention ever and a golf cart going 20.1 is a dangerous invention of Satan that reeks mayhem and devastation wherever it goes. Nor do I think it is worth law enforcement resources to "catch" these archcriminals.

History of The Villages shows that most fatalities have occurred in golf carts. Many residents treat a golf cart as a “toy” and some as a “race car” instead of a possible dangerous means of transportation if not driven in a proper manner. The growth of golf carts (as well as homes) in The Villages has been phenomenal in the last 15 years. With incredible growth comes more issues and “you ain’t seen nothing yet”. Kudos to the Wildwood police Department with their attempt to help the situation.

If I had a vote it would be to give out tickets to people obsessed with their phone while driving and to those who drive well below the speed limit who suddenly realize where the gas pedal is when someone attempts to pass them.

Care to provide a source or some statistics to back that up? And then provide fatalities/number of golf carts or golf cart miles driven in TV as opposed to other communities. I would think there are many more fatalities in car accidents, and the golf cart fatalities almost always occur when the cart meets a car.

Absolutely 100% agree. On highways, more accidents are caused by slow drivers than by so called "speeders"

As for the people advocating, don’t the police have anything better to do like investigating shootings and the like, well they do. Are you advocating that the police should just patrol those areas and leave the villages unprotected?
As for traffic patrols in the villages, it’s needed since so many golf cart NASCAR drivers have joined the ranks here and believe traffic laws don’t pertain to them. In my experience, the people who don’t want enforcement of laws are the ones who usually break the laws. If I get caught speeding, it’s my own fault. Don’t blame the police for your transgressions.

I agree phone usage while driving is horrible but slow drivers in no way cause more accidents than speeders. Speeding is far more prevalent in accidents.

If you can’t react to a slow driver in front of you, you are either a distracted driver or driving way to fast.
