Default Contractors Using Bathroom

We held off on inside projects - new flooring, just for that reason. We did not want workers in our house, much less using bathrooms. So it would not have been an issue.

We had a bathroom remodel started in Feb this year. We had all the concrete finishes done in May this year. The people all took precautions daily temps, mindful of symptoms and they all did the work. I cleaned touch surfaces and what not- before, during and after. I suggest being diligent about any viruses if you are immune compromised no matter what the “out breaks are”.
I have never been rude to anyone giving me service but I am cautious and ask BEFORE hand about virus monitoring of their people. I also explain our state (we are not sick) we take our temps daily and are mindful.
I always have one bathroom just for people to use and I use disposable hand towels in there. Touch less soap dispensers and I do clean it regular. We all are human and to me that is a human function to use facilities.
God bless you and keep you safe but always do what you can, when you can is my philosophy.

we don't allow workers to use our facilities. they need to provide for themselves, part of the job.

Obviously, you never had to work for a living.

Contractors should be allowed to use your bathroom, they are working inside your home so should have respect to not leave a mess and should be offered clean facilities, remember its hard times for them too. Even with the virus today, let them use your bathroom (guest preferably) offer bottle water and sanitary handwashing conditions. Paper towels only and when they have all left glove up, mask up and clean the heck out of the bathroom. If you wanted them to wear a mask you should have asked when you set up the appt.

I worked a second job when i was a police officer, no one ever said 'no' to using their bathroom. If in this time of covid you are that worried then don't have work done to your home yet. What's the rush? Are you going somewhere? Another note.....if you would have told a few of our workers 'no'.....then they would problem find somewhere around your house to go. Your choice.

I learned a few things from your post. The first thing, place the post and don't go back to it until the next day. Why? No matter what you post you're going to get many unwarranted negative replies. Just like you did. Then you're tempted to reply and defend yourself. For instance, if you said Christmas is a beautiful holiday I'm sure there would be dozens of contrary comments about using the word Christmas. There were, however, numerous constructive replies to your post as well. So, when you do read the replies you can pick and choose the good ideas. What did I learn from this post? I need to get my hardwood floors refinished in my home in GA. So, I learned to ask what if any precautions they take. Now I'll know up front. Then I will take anything of value, as well as any meds, out of the guest bathroom and elsewhere in the house and lock them in the master bedroom. Lastly I will monitor the areas where they are working. Once done, a thorough cleaning will follow. So, thanks for the post, it was helpful to me. I hope you got out of it what you needed.

Default Not to digress

prescription drugs should never be kept in the bathroom medicine cabinet. Any pharmacist will tell you that the bathroom is much too humid to store drugs. Designate a drawer in either the bedroom or the kitchen.

And I would never tell a guest in my house to not use my guest bath. Worker or friend. Clean when they are gone.

Default Suggest you Improve you knowledge...

Personally, I think you likely would feel better by changing your source of information with respect to the COVID-19. Consider this: according to US Census Bureau, the population of Marion, Lake and Sumter counties combine in 865,117 (2019). The total number of cases to date in the 3 counties is 890 which is (0.03%). The total number of deaths due to COVID-19 in the 3 counties is 40 (0.002%). Your likelihood of dying from COVID-19 is 1 in 50,000. The likelihood of dying in an automobile accident is 1 in 103. As far as the trend, COVID-19 cases in the 3 counties has seen 170 cases since May 20th. During the same period there have been 5 people. This data is from Florida’s Department of Health and confirmed by the CDC.
Network news has access to this same data and continues to beat the drum. Could this be political … I think so! If you want to stay better informed about the Virus, a good source of information is the Florida's COVID-19 Data and Surveillance Dashboard. You can find it at by googling the dashboard. I hope this helps.
