You'd better be careful in what you volunteer to do around here. Myself and the Administrative Dept will take you up on it in a heartbeat! We're being dreadfully overworked in the socializing dept!!!

The weather is supposed to be in the 80's this week so I wish you guys were here to enjoy it with us. Keep a stiff upper lip. It won't be as long as it has been!!!

We found it for the best price at Home Depot. They will deliver on the date we chose which is the day after close. The rest of our appliances we were not allowed to get elsewhere because we had the built in double oven.
As for the washers and dryers, since we are camping out in our rental, we went out and comparison shopped and found a good price at Sears.

There are always sales going on. We have ordered other furniture from several different stores and all are fine with us choosing the delivery date to coinside with our close.

So if you need support let me know. I am here. Gayle
thanks Gayle, maybe i can buy things in advance and stall delivery. Hadn't really thought about that!

Kitty,
You can definitely buy in advance and hold for delivery from many stores. You might be able to take advantage of Presidents Day sales from Home Depot, etc. and schedule delivery for when you close. We ordered our appliances on Black Friday and scheduled delivery for after our Feb. closing. Good luck!

Hello to our fellow Villagers! My husband and I just closed on a house in Gilchrist on 1/24/13. We are on the corner of De Foe & Olenda, #3029. For now we will be part time and probably rent out our house. We plan on coming down (from NY) every couple of months. Eventually we will become permanent residents.

Apparantly a block has been left on the front of the lot and no-one amongst the workers present have any idea where it should go!!!

His Worship the Mayor has launched the FLAPS to carry out an indepth anaysis of the build to determine just where the 'Bit' (or Bob) should go, significant concern was raised by the PERCS as to whether the build could be considered structurally sound, but a serious dicussion over a couple of Corona's determined that as a collapsing building would hit A4's head first, then Cathy and Mum were perfectly safe.
No Bits or Bobs going on here. I called in the Bomb Squad from West Virginia and since they couldn't determine if the block was Friend or Foe, they Blewed Up the dang thing.

Kitty, we bought all of our appliances through Home Depot here in Ohio. We have them scheduled for delivery and installation the day after we close 2/22. We will be sure to let you know how that goes. They have been great to work ip with so far and matched any lower price we found elsewhere. Appliances are to be delivered via the Home Depot in Lady Lake.

Kitty,

We did all our appliances through Sears. Had them delivered the afternoon we closed. Ordered about 8 weeks in advance. Moved no furniture, except my grand piano, so we did all our furniture through Southern Lifestyles. They say 8 - 10 weeks for order to arrive. Ours came in plenty early to be delivered and set up the day prior to closing. So we basically moved into a nearly complete house. Since they had the floor plan to work with, we knew where to put everything, and we knew it would fit.

Well, I have to admit that us mountain folk have always had the opinion that if we couldn't fix a problem with bailing wire or duct tape....just blow it up!

Speaking of blowing things up. This afternoon Janice and I were on the lanai enjoying a peaceful afternoon when all of a sudden we heard a shrill cry that sounded like a bottle rocket going off. The only thing she could think of was that A-4 had made the first "pit stop" in his new bathroom and had set off a firework in celebration.

I think the rocket you heard was the block being blewed up. As for the pit stop, I have a BLUE Monster at the curb for when the URGE hits me.

Big day today . . . they filled the block & headers with concrete, framing for the interior walls and insulation arrived, and the load of trusses are in the front yard. I hope we get that company that puts an American Flag on top when they top off the trusses.
