Default 28 days without a cigarette

woohooo Yeah, Yeah, I know I slept some of them, but I have been up since 7 and am trying to switch up my schedule a bit. I am not bowing out of TOTV, but you may not see me post as much!! LOL got to go do something! Keep busy LOL ..........Wish me luck and keep hounding me, apparently at this stage your body starts going through changes right away! Let's take a quick look at some changes based on information from the American Cancer Society.
Tobacco fact:AFTER:

20 minutes:

Your blood pressure drops to a normal rate for you.

The temperature of your hands and feet increases to normal.

8 hours:

The carbon monoxide level in your blood drops to normal.

The oxygen level in your blood goes up to normal.

24 hours:

Your chance of a heart attack goes down!!!

48 hours

nerve endings start re-growing.

Ability to smell and taste begins to improve
The list goes on and on...................... I will be using the PC in the family room, and trying to keep busy! Guess what 72+ wooohooo "poof"

I did it. I am pulling for you. I admire you so much. Keep busy. Chew gum. DO anything and go on a diet later.

My fingers, toes, arms and legs are crossed and I am wishing so hard.

I will even pray for you.

Hugs.

Grace

Good luck to Ronda! My husband quit 2 years ago now, and I know what he went through. So I'm feeling for you! He had to take a couple of days off of work to get through it, so don't feel bad if you can't get anything accomplished in the next few days. What you are about to accomplish is so much greater than anything you were gonna do in the next few days anyway, right? Will be praying for you!

I just figured out that it was 16 years ago that I gave it up!! That is so hard to believe.

Stick with it - you won't be sorry. This is the best thing you can do for yourself - what a gift! It might be tough for a while but it gets easier with time. All of sudden one day it will dawn on you that you haven't thought about a cigarette all day and then it will be days and then there comes a time you won't think about it at all. Today, I can't believe I ever even smoked.

I'm pulling for you!

My dad quit for the last 30 years of his life but every now and then he tell me:

"I could go for one this big (and hold his hands as far apart as he could)"

Moral is that it is tough and you may still think of it but the benefits of not smoking outweigh the joy (?) of smoking so much that it makes it worth it and every day will be a tiny bit easier than the previous day.

Just remember that us Rhode Islanders can do anything we set our mind to!

Ronda,

Wish you tons and tons of good luck in your efforts to quit. You will do it!!!!

Hubs quit about 15 years ago. In his quit smoking class, they told him to eat lots of black licorice and chocolate. Apparently, it appeals to the same brain receptors that nicotine does. It worked wonders for him and he got thru it fairly easily without turning into a bear that noone could stand to be around. Worth a try and yes , I agree, worry about the calories later. Dont mean to get spiritual on ya, but prayers help alot too and I will be sending lots of them your way. Good luck Ronda!

Rhonda,
I'm pulling for you, and will also send some positive vibes, as well as prayers, your way. I think Nonie is correct---licorice and chocolate can help---oh btw--chocolate licorice is hard to find (sometimes CVS has it) and one of my personal favorites. Keep up the good work, you are worth it.

Good luck -- it's never too late to quit, until it's really too late. Do whatever you need to do. Use a patch, chew the gum, take the pills, get hypnotised, sacrifice a goat, whatever is needed. And do not get discouraged. It's not a game where you quit as long as you can and then give up. If you weaken and lapse, so what. Just try again. And again if need be. God speed.

Great! Keep it up! Can't wait to come down and celebrate your victory with you. I can help you eat some of that chocolate as well! Drink plenty of water to wash the toxins out of your body too. It will take a few days, so keep hydrated!
